Cardiologist (Part-Time)   Location Beqaa Area Type of Appointment Contractor (1 post – part time) Deadline for Application 05 August 2015 Vacancy Announcement Number 985/2015 Department/Division Health Department.   MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:   This is a Part-Time Post.  The incumbent is supposed to work four days per month in Wavel and Thaalabaya Health Center.   (A)   Undertakes regular visits to UNRWA health centers according to a rotating schedule in order to examine, treat and follow up on patients referred to him/her by medical officers;   (B)   Follows up to ensure that equipment and supplies are maintained and techniques are performed in accordance with standard Agency procedures;   (C)   Maintains records of all patients with cardiovascular diseases at each health center and provides statistical data and relevant information on such patients to the Field Office;   (D)  Plans and directs the in-service training of medical officers on the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases;   (E)   Maintains an effective system of referral to, and feed-back from, contracted and government hospitals treating refugee patients;   (F)   Performs such other duties as may be assigned.   PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (A)  Academic and Professional (i)   A university degree in medicine from a university or medical school recognized by UNRWA. (ii)   A post-graduate degree or diploma in heart diseases. (iii)  A valid governmental licence to practice medicine in the country of duty station   (B)  Experience A minimum of two years experience in management of cardiovascular diseases after obtaining the degree/diploma in this discipline.   (C)  Language          Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic   DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Leadership ability and previous training and teaching experience     CONDITIONS OF SERVICE: Salary: As per relevant salary scale Contract Duration: Six months - Extendable according to availability of Funds, needs and performance.   EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.          RECRUITMENT PROCESS:    The Recruitment process is based on the Agency’s strategy to obtain the best qualified and suitable employees through a competitive recruitment process. Short-listed candidates who fully meet the required criteria shall undergo technical and practical tests. For all posts, the weight allocated for the combined technical & practical tests is 60% and for the interview is 40%. Upon selection, a staff member may be offered the consultant/contractor contract upon resignation from fixed term appointments and a three month break-in-service.
