French Teacher – Preschool – Kindergarten

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the teacher in UNRWApreschool is responsible for her/his actions to the preschool coordinator, the school head teacher and the French office. She/he is a member of a team including the coordinator, the other teacher and the KG help and cleaner as well as other actors such as art teacher and externals trainers. She/he is responsible for the class and therefore will assume all the responsibilities that will allow the children to follow the preschool curriculum. Therefore, she/he has not only a pedagogical input but an input in the class and school organisation, as well as a role in the relationships to develop with the parents and the school community.   (A)     Responsibilities i)    The preschool teacher is responsible for the security, well being and learning of the children she/he is in charge of from the moment they reach school until they leave; ii)   She/he is the most able to detect eventual problems and should refer firstly to the coordinator and parents and head teacher and if necessary to the French office.   (B)     Administration i)    Participate to the students enrolment; ii)   Follow up children attendance; iii)  Schedule : 7:15 to 14 :00, and according UNRWA’s annual calendar; iv)  Supervise and Follow up children in the playground; v)   Participate to team meeting organised by the coordinator and the French Office.   (C)    Logistics i)    Responsible for the good use of pedagogical means and materials; ii)   Evaluate her/his class needs and participate to the general need assessment and ordering process; iii)  Participate to her/his class inventory.   (D)    Pedagogy i)    Daily, monthly and annual organisation of the class, tidy it up with the children participation and if necessary with the help cleaner and coordinator; ii)   Daily, weekly and annual programme and activity planning taking into account the class level objectives and curriculum and adapting it to the children needs and abilities; iii)  Daily reporting; iv)  Prepare and give teaching periods according to the curriculum; v)   Follow up students’ activities and productions (files, exercises books…); vi)  Follow up and evaluation of students; vii) Relations with parents (meetings, visits, achievements booklets…); viii) Take care of other students if their teacher is out of class / absent; ix)  Participate to the training organised by the French office; x)   Organize with the help of the coordinator, visits, pedagogical activities and other extra curricular activities outside the school. xi)  Writing a quarterly activity report provided by the coordinator and transmitted to the French office.
