Most of the staff members are refugees themselves, working directly to benefit their communities – as teachers, doctors, nurses or social workers.  IS Help Desk Coordinator   Location Lebanon Field Office Type of Appointment Fixed Term – Three Years Deadline for Application 02 June  2014 Vacancy Announcement Number 25/2014 Grade 14 Department/Division Information and Communication Technology Department   MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent: (A)     Supervises and manages the HQ/Field IS Help Desk function: i)      Acts as a focal point on Information Systems Division/ Office end-user support for all end-user ICT services; ii)     Prepares hardware/software installation plans; plans and assigns help desk activities to help desk support staff; iii)   Supervises and monitors the operation and performance of the IS help desk and initiates necessary actions to enhance performance; iv)    Provides technical guidance, instructions, training, support and documentation to the help desk staff; v)     Maintains help desk activity logs and prepares statistical reports; (B)     Participates in providing end-user first line help desk services; conducts end-user formal training on PC desktop standard software packages; (C)     Coordinates with other Information Systems Division/Office sections staff on providing network, communications and other non-help desk services required by end-users; (D)     Liaises with vendors and other Agency offices regarding new hardware installation and maintenance issues; raises equipment survey reports and follows up on survey outcomes; (E)     Keeps up-to-date inventory on all end-user hardware and software licenses at location; (F)      Manages the Information System Office store and keeps up-to-date records on store inventory; (G)     Performs such other duties as may be assigned.   PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (A)   Academic and Professional i)      A university degree in computer science, computer engineering or information systems; ii)     Technical training in end-user computer hardware and software installation and maintenance.   (B)   Experience Four years experience in computer help desk services related to support of which one year was in a supervisory position.   (C)   Language         Very good command of written and spoken English.   (D)   Competencies i)      Knowledge of Microsoft Server and Exchange E-Mail; end-user computer technology including PC hardware and software products, Microsoft PC software products (Windows, Office, Project, Visio) and LAN technology; ii)     Knowledge of UNRWA's operations and computer facilities environment; iii)   Skills and experience in conducting PC related training; iv)    Good communication skills, customer service and care related skills; v)     Good supervisory skills; vi)    Ability to work under pressure and within a team.     ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The incumbent will be required to work beyond normal duty hours and on call basis.   CONDITIONS OF SERVICE Salary: Monthly basic salary L.L. 2,197,975.- PLUS 4.20% SOA (Special Occupational Allowance) Contract Duration: Fixed term –Three years Holidays: 30 days annual leave Dependency allowance: Dependent spouse: L.L 60,000 per month     Dependent child: L.L 33,000 per month Pension:  Provident Fund contribution   EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.   RECRUITMENT PROCESS The Recruitment process is based on the Agency’s strategy to obtain the best qualified and suitable employees through a competitive recruitment process. After the deadline for receiving applications, all applications will be reviewed by the Human Resources Office and the Hiring Department.  Only Short-listed candidates who fully meet the required criteria shall be contacted and undergo technical/practical tests and the candidates with the highest passing scores will then be invited to interview (see “Technical and Practical Tests Required” below). The final recommendation for selection is based on the test results, interview assessment, Agency priorities and needs and the candidates’ profiles.
