Pharmacist   Location All Areas Type of Appointment Employment roster Deadline for Application 18 December 2012 Vacancy Announcement Number 75/2012 Grade 08 Department/Division Health Department   MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES The incumbent is responsible to the Senior Medical Officer or Medical Officer in charge of the Health Centre on administrative matters and to the Field Pharmacist on technical matters.   In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:   (A)     Implements the day to day operations and follows all relevant Health Department policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried in a controlled and consistent manner; (B)     Controls the dispensary of the Health Centre to which he/she is assigned; receives medical supplies from the Field Pharmacy to ensure that all drugs on the UNRWA list of essential drugs are available; arranges the received medical supplies in the dispensary following the standards of First Expiry First Out (FEFO); (C)     Replenishes stocks of medical supplies in the health centre treatment rooms to ensure the availability of required materials; (D)     Documents movements of medical supplies and accounts to enable the Medical Officer In Charge to adequately assess the quantities to be ordered; (E)     Dispenses medication prescribed by the Medical Officer to patients; ensures the correct dosage is prescribed and warns patient(s) of any drug-drug interactions when necessary; (F)      Provides advice to patients regarding the modality of intake of medications, their potential side effects and possible interactions with other medications/foods/supplements; (G)     Advises Medical Officers and other health staff in the health centre on related side effects of medications, possible drug-drug interactions and ensures rational prescribing of medications; (H)     Educates groups and individuals on various issues with regards to medications to ensure effective transfer of knowledge and awareness; (I)        Produces periodic reports regarding the activities of the dispensary with an in-depth analysis of the findings; (J)       Ensures that medicines are properly stored; (K)     Complies with all relevant safety, quality, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment; (L)      Performs other related duties or assignments as assigned.   PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (A)   Academic and Professional i)        Bachelor of Pharmacy from a recognized university; ii)      Possession of a license to practice Pharmacy in the country of duty station.   (B)   Experience i)        At least two years of experience in a similar role; ii)      Experience in the use of computers and an understanding of their use in health applications.   (C)   Language        Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.   (D)   Competencies i)        Ability to work under pressure and cope with a heavy workload; ii)      Good computer skills; iii)     Excellent organizational and communication skills; iv)     Self-motivated.   CONDITIONS OF SERVICE: Salary: Monthly basic salary L.L. 1,347,021.- Contract Duration: Fixed term-Three years Holidays: 30 days annual leave Dependency allowance: Dependent spouse: L.L 60,000 per month     Dependent child: L.L 33,000 per month Pension:  Provident Fund contribution   EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.   RECRUITMENT PROCESS The Recruitment process is based on the Agency’s strategy to obtain the best qualified and suitable employees through a competitive recruitment process. After the deadline for receiving applications, all applications will be reviewed by the Human Resources Office and the Hiring Department.  Short-listed candidates who fully meet the required criteria shall undergo technical/practical tests and the candidates with the highest passing scores will then be invited to interview (see “Technical and Practical Tests Required” below). The final recommendation for selection is based on the test results, interview assessment, Agency priorities and needs and the candidates’ profiles. The Agency maintains the discretion to fill future vacancies for this position from the roster without re-advertising the vacancy.   TECHNICAL & PRACTICAL TESTS REQUIRED: Short-listed candidates will sit for two tests: Written technical test (100%).
