Research Assistant

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES The Research Assistant will be the directly responsible of the implementation of the market study (filed work, data analysis, etc.).  S/he will report to the Self-employment officer operating within the employment unit and will be empowered to liaise with other departments and/or programmes.   (A)     The Research Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation and coordination of the activities related to the market study in the five camps located in both Saida & Tyre;   (B)     S/he will be supervising the implementation of the data collection (by independent filed researchers), execution of focus groups and in-depth interviews and data processing. The RA will be closely coordinating with relevant stakeholders;   (C)     S/he will be responsible of conducting all quality assurance measures under the guidance of the self-employment officer;   (D)     S/he will be responsible of the data analysis and will assist in drafting of the final report.  This will be done under the direct supervision of the self-employment officer;   (E)     S/he will be responsible of the identification and the follow-up with the external contractors for related publications and printing matters;   (F)      S/he will maintain up-to-date records of the related activities and will be responsible of preparing monthly reports;   (G)     S/he will assist the Self-employment officer in any other tasks (preparation of presentations, organizations of filed visits, organization of roundtables with employers, etc.).   PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (A)   Academic and Professional BA/BS university degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics and/or related fields.   (B)   Experience        Proven experience/knowledge in conducting previous research assignments using both qualitative and quantitative research methods (up to 2 years).   (C)   Language        Excellent command of spoken and written English.   (D)   Competencies i)       Excellent reporting skills; ii)     Strong communication, liaison facilitation, problem-solving skills; iii)    Knowledge of the Palestinian camps environment and context is strongly desired.   CONDITIONS OF SERVICE: Salary: Monthly salary (full package) USD $1,200.- Contract Duration: 6 months (not renewable)   EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.   GENERAL INFORMATION UNRWA is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications equally from men and women. TECHNICAL & PRACTICAL TESTS REQUIRED: Short-listed candidates will sit for a test: Written test (100%).   The top 5 scoring candidates in the written technical test given that none have scored less than 50%; will be invited to interview.
