School Counselor   Location All Areas (Beqa’a Area – Central Lebanon Area – North Lebanon Area – Saida Area – Tyre Area) Type of Appointment Fixed Term – Project Funded (One year) (6 posts) Employment Roster (Total of 10 persons) Deadline for Application 04 March 2015 Vacancy Announcement Number 06/2015 Grade 10 Department/Division Education Department   MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent: (A)    Co-ordinates all aspects of the Guidance & Counseling programme and activities in the school's compound to which assigned including identification of pupil's problems, planning, implementing, evaluating and recommending annul plans for improvement. (B)    Assists in assessing pupil's problems by using different techniques such as observation, interviews, academic achievement, action research projects, case studies, questionnaires, group and individual tests, etc. (C)    Establishes a data base for the schools assigned to assists in identifying common patterns of relationships that cause problems and the suitable guidance and counseling intervention approach that may be applied to solve the problems. (D)    In co-ordination with the School Supervisor (Guidance & Counseling) provides guidance and counseling training. (E)    Assists in designing and using group and individual intervention techniques that may create a learning environment which enhances achievement and develops positive pupils' behavior. (F)    Provides individual guidance & counseling services to pupils whose problems are outside the competency of the teacher-counsellor in the schools to which assigned, on referral basis. (G)   Co-ordinates with the specialists staff in the Relief and Health Department in providing a referral system for expanded services beyond the area of education counseling. (H)    Performs any other duties which may be assigned.   PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (A)  Academic and Professional i)     University degree in Guidance and counseling or a major in psychology or educational psychology and minor in Guidance & Counseling or University degree in a subject related to school education programme. ii)    Successful completion of a teacher training course of at least one-year's duration. iii)  Competence in research techniques and use of statistical analysis and ability to plan, implement and evaluate school Guidance and Counseling programmes.   (B)  Experience        Four years’ Teaching and/or guidance & Counseling experience . (C)  Language        Good Command of spoken and written English and Arabic.   ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Has flexible duty hours to cover both morning and afternoon shifts.   CONDITIONS OF SERVICE Salary: Monthly basic salary L.L. 1,724,195.- N.B: Grade 11 teachers who are willing to apply to this post will be placed at the grade of the post (grade 10), and will not be subject to grade protection since they are applying voluntarily. Contract Duration: - To fill six vacant posts as follow: Beqa’a Area: one post – Central Lebanon Area: one post – North Lebanon Area: two posts – Saida Area: two posts -  Fixed term – Project Funded for one year, extendable subject to availability of funds; - To establish an employment roster of a total of ten persons for all Lebanon. Holidays: 30 days annual leave Dependency allowance: Dependent spouse: L.L 60,000 per month     Dependent child: L.L 33,000 per month Pension:  Provident Fund contribution   EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.   RECRUITMENT PROCESS The Recruitment process is based on the Agency’s strategy to obtain the best qualified and suitable employees through a competitive recruitment process. The final recommendation for selection is based on the test results, interview assessment, Agency priorities and needs and the candidates’ profiles. The Agency maintains the discretion to fill future vacancies for this position from the roster without re-advertising the vacancy.   TECHNICAL & PRACTICAL TESTS REQUIRED Short-listed candidates will sit for two tests: Written technical test (100%).
