MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:
(A) Acts as focal point for Relief and Social Services in respect of displaced NBC families accommodated in plots and displaced NBC families receiving rental cash subsidy (RCS);
(B) Implements Agency strategy related to temporary accommodation for displaced families in NBC and ensures proper coordination and communication with all stakeholders in UNRWA and within the community;
(C) Maintains up to data on displaced NBC families accommodated in plots and assisted with RCS;
(D) Coordinates with NBRC for the handover of reconstructed apartments in NBC; Informs respective families in plots and on RCS of handover date; Receives keys for the vacated plots from the families and communicates it to NBRC when done; Reports on families who did not receive their apartment; and Updates database accordingly;
(E) Attends to complaints and queries raised by families in relation to their eligibility for accommodation assistance; Conduct investigation as required and makes appropriate recommendations;
(F) Maintains close coordination with Relief Services, NBRC and maintenance team on status of targeted families;
(G) Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
(A) Academic and Professional
University degree in social work, sociology, psychology, guidance and counseling or any other related degree in social development or emergency and / or humanitarian relief aid.
(B) Experience
At least two years experience in a developmental social welfare programme applying the knowledge acquired in para 4 (A), in a governmental or non-governmental organization.
(C) Language
Command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
(D) Skills and Competencies
i) Ability to work under pressure and challenging conditions;
ii) Ability to take initiative and maintain cordial relationship with all concerned;
iii) Ability to work effectively within a team as well as work independently without close supervision.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
At Least one year experience in related functions in the North area.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Salary: As per relevant salary scale.
Contract Duration: 3 months- Extendable for another 3 months according to availability of funds, needs and performance.
EQUIVALENCY
Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.

As a member of the United Nations system, UNRWA maintains a close relatives’ policy. In this regard, if a candidate has a close relative (mother, father, brother, sister, son or daughter) who is already employed by the Agency, he/she can only be employed if the Agency is unable to find another suitable candidate.
UNRWA staff members with fixed term appointments may apply for any consultant/contractor consultancy while in service. Upon selection, a staff member may be offered the consultant/contractor contract upon resignation from fixed term appointments and a three month break-in-service.
Candidates who are no longer employed by the Agency must have a minimum of 3 months break-in-service, before they apply to any consultant/contract positions.
