Trade Instructor – Building Craftsmanship

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES   In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:   (A)        Organizing, developing and implementing the subject of specialization.   (B)        Developing the competencies and skills of trainees in workshop practice and safety precautions through:   1          Block& Bricklayer: Applying and smoothing mortar or other mixture over work surface. Breaking or cutting bricks, tiles, or blocks to size using trowel edge hammers or power saw. Constructing corners by fastening plumb positions a corner pole or building a corner pyramid bricks …etc. Examining brick work to determine the need for repair. Fastening or fuse brick or other building material to structure with wire clamps, anchor, holes, torch or cement. Laying and align bricks, blocks or tiles to build or repair structures. Mixing specified amounts of sand, clay, dirt or mortar powder with water to form refectory mixtures.   2          Plastering: Applying coats of plaster or stucco to walls, ceilings, or partitions of buildings, using trowels, brushes, or spray guns. Cleaning and preparing surfaces for applications of plaster, cement, stucco, or similar materials. Creating decorative textures in finish coat, using brushes or trowels, sand, pebbles, or stones. Curing freshly plastered surfaces. Mixing mortar and plaster to desired consistency or direct workers who perform mixing. Roughing the undercoat surface with a scratcher so the finish coat will adhere.   (C)        Tile Setting:   Developing the skills and competencies of trainees in workshop practice, concrete and mosaic floors, local concrete floor tiling, laying terrazzo tiles, fixing glazed and ceramics and laying marble tiles and stair rizers.   (D)        Preparing schemes of work.   (E)        Preparing bills of quantities and specifications for the needed materials and tools   (F)        Coordinating the specialized subject with other subjects such as English and Entrepreneurship.   (G)        Reading architectural drawing details.   (H)        Maintaining discipline and keeping inventory records of different supplies.   (I)         Performs other duties when required.
