Job Context:
The post is based in Beirut CO and the incumbent will report to the Head of Unit or his/her designate
Job Purpose:
Support the Country Office Protocol Operations, particularly in the Port Operations, clearance of shipments, and aviation cargo.
Duration of Assignment:
The Protocol Assistant will be contracted for an initial term of six (6) months. Contract may be extended based on business need and satisfactory performance.
Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
Within delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the Head of Administration or his/her designate, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
- Draft letters to concerned government parties to secure entry permits to restricted areas such as Ports, Airports to facilitate WFP operations
- Draft Special Permit requests, Declaration en Douane, or any other clearance formality required for WFP shipments
- Follow-up on the clearances of submitted applications with the relevant authorities for shipments or aviation cargo
- Translate directives and communiques received from the government pertaining to the current situation
- Support the logistics/port team in their official communication with the government for High-level visits and meetings
- Support the Admin Officer in updating the status of assets affected by the office explosion for the Country Office and Beirut Field Office
- Carry out Assets transactions on specialized platforms as needed
- Support in identifying the number of assets requiring replacement
- Perform other duties as required
STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of secondary school education. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Translation and Languages is an advantage
Experience: At least four (4) years of experience in Protocol, Political Affairs, Translation or relevant fields. A minimum of one year work/volunteer or internship experience with a UN agency is highly desirable.
Language Fluent in Arabic and English. French is an advantage.
