In Lebanon, WFP works to support approximately 700,000 people with regular assistance using e-cards. WFP also supports Lebanese schools with school meals, and has run over 300 development activities which include supporting rural infrastructure, as well as education and training opportunities for vulnerable individuals in families. WFP also supports Lebanon’s National Poverty Targeting Programme.  

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT: The post is based in Beirut CO and the incumbent is to report to the Business Support Assistant (Fleet Management). 
JOB PURPOSE: To provide efficient and safe transportation of authorized personnel, field staff and/or commodities. To support in the coordination and transportation of VIP missions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive): 
Under the supervision of the Business Support Assistant (Fleet Management) at the Country Office, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:

1. Provide transportation of authorized personnel, including translation of basic conversations from/to the local language, and/or delivery of various items/commodities following authorized routing and UN safety and security rules and regulations to ensure safe and efficient services. 
2. Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport or other entry points and provide basic assistance with visa and customs formalities to facilitate smooth and safe entry and arrival to the authorised destinations. 
3. Ensure efficient and cost-effective vehicle use and fuel consumption by maintaining accurate log books, and daily reporting to the supervisor on mechanical status. 
4. Responsible for keeping the assigned vehicle clean, well maintained and in a good condition, including all equipment and supplies, and authorizations required for travel; further ensure safe and efficient services by reporting all mechanical issues to the supervisor prior to travel. 
5. Follow established rules and regulations for field deliveries; in cases of an accident, to report immediately to the supervisor for instructions and/or facilitate informed decisions on the way forward. 
6. Outside of driving duties, perform basic office related tasks such as filing, photocopying and maintaining inventory when required, including delivery/collection of various items, mailing service and payment of office telephone and other bills as administrative support to the office. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 
Education:
    Completion of Secondary education. 
Experience:     Two or more years of experience as Driver, preferably in an international organization, Embassy or UN system with a demonstrated safe driving record. 
Possess a valid driver’s license / certification
Language:     Proficiency in both oral and written communication in the local language (Arabic) and basic working knowledge of English.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 
•    Formal driver’s training to operate assigned vehicle;
•    Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles
•    Experience and skills in operating an SUV in challenging terrain (mountain roads, rugged and/or unpaved roads, in challenging weather condition)
•    Thorough knowledge of country driving rules and regulations, protocol and courtesies, and security issues in WFP operating areas and between sub-offices.
•    Knowledge of safety standards and safety equipment 
•    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in both English and local language;
•    Basic skills to assist in case of emergency, knowledge of first aid basic methods
•    Knowledge and ability to use radio, email, telephone and other applications;
•    Ability to assess vehicles for mechanical fitness and skills in minor vehicle repairs
•    Ability to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy and tact.
