Programme Policy Officer (School Feeding)

Within delegated authority and under the supervision of the Head of Unit (School Meals and Nutrition), the Programme Policy Officer (School Feeding) will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Contribute towards the development of the school snacks programme, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with the WFP School Feeding Policy, the MENA Initiative for School Meals and the wider WFP policies and guidance. 2. Provide project management support to school meals activities, including food parcel distribution, nutrition education activities, as well as cash-for-education, and in accordance with WFP standards and procedures. 3. Follow data gathering and monitoring systems, including standard programme monitoring indicators, process indicators, and food distribution indicators in WFP corporate databases, ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained. 4. Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders. 5. Research and analyze policy and operational issues to support senior colleagues in the development of policies, programmes and activities.  6. Liaise with HQ and RB concerned units to ensure effective collaboration in food safety and quality of the food parcels used for the school snack programme, as well as suggest changes and amendments to what best fits food standards and operational requirements. 7. Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships to collaborative working leading to leverage school meals as a platform for complementary activities leading to improved outcomes for children. 8. Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government to deliver quality school meals programmes e.g. through project management support of learning initiatives. 9. Provide guidance to support staff, acting as a point of referral and assisting them with analysis and queries. 10. Other duties as required.
