Job Purpose
The Programme associate (Gender and Protection) will support the gender and protection team in WFP Lebanon Country Office in strengthening gender equality and disability inclusion efforts, based on all relevant WFP policies and guidelines across the Lebanon Country Office activities.
Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
Within delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the Programme Policy Officer (Gender Officer), the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
- Support the team efforts to integrate gender, protection, and disability inclusion into WFP Lebanon’s programmes.
- Assist in the implementation of gender and age marker-monitoring phase
- Assist in the design and the implementation of the Gender and protection knowledge management products
- Assist in the implementation of WFP Lebanon Gender Transformative Programme initiative, entailing a gender technical and capacity assessment and capacity -strengthening across WFP Lebanon’s programmes;
- Assist in research and analyses, including desk reviews, as well as compile good gender equality / transformative practices in humanitarian and development contexts;
- Support the implementation of the Gender and Age Marker across all programme areas, including the provision of guidance and training, as well as support in using the online platform;
- Support implementation of related Regional and Global gender action plans, strategies and policies in the Country Office;
- Assist in the efforts of strengthening WFP staff and partner’s gender awareness, gender analysis capacities and ability to mainstream gender in programming and operations;
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Designing gender equality and women’s empowerment training materials in humanitarian settings
- Experience analysing data and information about context and affected populations in order to make recommendations for improved programming.
- Communicating and reporting in English.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point); Experience utilizing computer programs, including word processing, spreadsheets, data capture systems and other software packages and systems;
- Ability to deliver results through planning and organizing own activities effectively;
- Ability to manage multiple requests at a time; Excellent teamwork skills in a multicultural environment;
- Detailed work style and strong work ethics; Ability to meet strict deadlines
Standard Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance.
Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience in humanitarian context with at least two (2) years’ experience in protection or gender.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Arabic and English. Fluency in another UN language is a plus.
