Junior Wash/civil Engineer

Division: WASH Department   I-Function: -          To coordinate, supervise and provide technical inputs to all aspects of construction works of the emergency WASH project in North Lebanon. -          To ensure quality control of all construction projects by traveling regularly to all construction sites ensuring that all constructions are in accordance with set norms and standards; -          Work in close collaboration with other project sectors, especially WASH to ensure smooth implementation/facilitation of the community-based development approach in all community construction projects; -          Ensure constructive cooperation and collaboration with other construction project key stakeholders, including international and local NGOs, local authorities as well as UN agencies;     II-Reporting: -          To the Program Manager. -          To the Senior Engineer.   III-Supervising: -          Contractors -          Direct Labor work tea           Coordinates: -          With all WASH Engineers. -          With all concerned parties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.   IV- Duties and Responsibilities: -          Consult with community representatives (including women) about access, design, and management of water systems and sanitation facilities, as well as hygiene promotion needs. -          Design and implement water networks, distribution systems - potable/other uses. -          Design and implement sanitation systems for household and/or communal toilets, household liquid and solid wastes, hospital wastes and other community facilities, including drainage and vector control and in close coordination with health and education services. -          Deliver training on water treatment, water quality testing, and maintenance and hygiene promotion to community volunteers & community facilitators. -          Prepare technical drawings, BOQ, specifications for water and sanitation infrastructure. -          Develop, negotiate and manage contracts with service providers (may include preparing tender documentation and evaluating capacity and quality of contractors). -          Participate in or facilitate Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) coordination meetings. -          Ensure that all project activities are in accordance with budgets available and being implemented on schedule. -          Timely reporting, on a monthly basis, regarding all Wash activities. -          Other duties as assigned.   VI- Qualification:   Skills: -          Excellent analytical skills -          Team working skills -          Problem-solving skills -          Good time management -          IT skills -          Ability to work without supervision -          Leadership and supervisory skills and ability to foster team spirit.   Computer Skills: Internet, E-mail, MS office, Inventory, database and engineering software (AutoCAD and GIS).   VII- Work Environment: While performing his/her duties the Junior WASH Engineer might be exposed to environmental and physical hazards such as long sitting periods, long computer interaction periods, wet and/or humid conditions, precarious equipment and working areas, fumes, miscellaneous weather conditions, lifting heavy items, loud noise, and airborne particles.
