The Child Protection Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination and mainstreaming of Child Protection programming within WCH Lebanon and for creating linkages between WCH Child Protection programming and the Ministry of Social Affairs, UN agency and other NGOs.
The Child Protection Program Coordinator ensures the quality of the WCH Child Protection Programme all over Lebanon and contributes to the integral implementation of the PSS approach in all the projects.
Position within the organisation
The Child Protection Program Coordinator is part of the Quality Department and reports directly to the Quality Department Manager.
She/he works closely with other Coordinators within the region, with the CD, EPMs and PCs.
Result areas
1. Developing Child Protection standards and tools
Gathers input for program development and monitoring, rolling out standards, methods and tools
Defines shared Child Protection programming standards
Ensures that WCH methods and standards for the implementation of Child Protection programs are developed/revised and remain up to date based on WCH programming practice and international standards,
Generates overview of quality of Child Protection in WPAs: status, methods used and results achieved;
Implements War Child quality standards and Child Protection Minimum standards
Stimulates and monitors Child Protection programming
Reviews Lebanon strategy, proposals, reports and evaluations
2. Capacity Building
Designs and provides briefings, Training of Trainers; and tailored trainings where needed for program staff,
Provides ongoing support, guidance and advice to program staff in the field of Psychosocial Support
Links Lebanon initiatives; stimulate knowledge sharing and management.
Advises on Child Protection program and project proposals (including those applying for institutional funds);
3. Coordination and representation
Liaises periodically with other thematic Specialists
Ensures that Child Protection area connects with other WCH areas of work
Ensures use of uniform methods, tools and forms in activities, training and PME.
Represents WCH externally, in relevant platforms/networks focused on Child Protection themes
Supports the identification and packaging of Child Protection advocacy issues
4. Handling administration and finance
Provides PCs with Child Protection reports and recommendations based on Deals ToTs evaluations
Submits 4M report on Child Protection achievements (on results) and developments in Lebanon,
Accounts for the different budgets assigned to Child Protection work
Knowledge and experience
Relevant academic background in Social Sciences / Psychology;
Specialist knowledge of current principles and practices of Child Protection with children in (post)conflict areas;
Understanding of Child Protection (programming) in (post) conflict environments.
Minimum 5 years (I)NGO work in developing countries / conflict areas, preferably with children;
Minimum 3 years in CP programming in (post)conflict areas;
Minimum 3 years in staff capacity building and experience in providing trainings.
Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects
Skills
Ability to express himself/herself skilfully in written and oral English and fluent in Arabic.
