Communications Manager
War Child program in Lebanon
War Child’s Lebanon Programme aims to improve educational outcomes and improve psychosocial development opportunities for vulnerable children. The program focuses on increasing marginalized children’s attendance in formal and non-formal schools (literacy courses and vocational training) and community reintegration. War Child pays particular attention to the problem of gender-based violence and economic exploitation. Target groups are vulnerable children and youth. War Child Lebanon relies on local organizations for the implementation of its program and runs a program of strengthening local capacities. We work in synergy with local and international organizations and governmental institutions.
The Challenge
The Communications Manager supports all departments including Program Development, Program Implementation, and HR with developing and disseminating communications including social media.
They are responsible for coordinating and facilitating the development of communication plans for WCH-Lebanon; guards the brand of War Child Holland and helps strengthening it and contributes to enlarge the brand awareness and top of mind awareness in Lebanon; gives advice on the use of communication means in order to reach external target groups in the best possible way; supports all departments to ensure that all communications enhance and do not negatively affect the reputation of WCH;
Responsibilities
Should give Communication advice which mean support the departments of WCH in their needs for communication; Support team(s) in giving them proactive advice and support on how to improve their communications; create an annual communications plan for the Lebanon team(s); and collaborate with different teams to develop specific communications plans for each team.
Also should Support role which mean give support and input to the development and optimization of communication plans, using the required knowledge of trends, developments and evaluations in the field of development communication; Produce (including editing) communication means for all possible communication channels including social media; Manage WCH-Lebanon social media accounts; Responsible for communicating the accurate information about War Child Holland; Collaborate with the ICT Officer on uploading and maintaining information on our digital platforms; Ensure that the WCH Child Safety Policy is followed in all communications;
And do Maintenance of field of expertise that means to stay informed about internal and external developments in the communication field, keep actively contact with relevant internal and external stakeholders;
Experience
- Relevant academic background (Communication/Journalism/ICT);
- Knowledge of organization, processes, and procedures;
- Knowledge of relevant target groups for WCH and ability to focus activities on these groups;
- Knowledge of development-related communication;
- Excellent knowledge of communication developments in all different on- and offline channels;
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a comparable communication position;
Knowledge and skills
- Strong ability to express skilfully in written and oral Arabic and English;
- Flexibility;
- Excellent communication skills; ability to give and receive feedback;
