Communications Officer

Objective of the position The Communications Officer will be responsible for designing implementing, supervising and strengthening the communications of War Child Holland in Lebanon. Reports to      : Representative Location         : Lebanon Period             : March-December 2012 with a possible extension.    Result areas/responsibilities:   Communications and designing Designing, supervising, editing and      compiling the information for the four-monthly e-newsletter 961. Checking and updating monthly the War Child website. Designing, participating in the      production of printed materials (leaflets, business cards factsheets, etc)      as needed. Collecting and editing interesting stories, pictures and      information from the partner’s projects. Responsible collaborating in the production of materials/providing regular      information required by HQ. Dealing with field-based or visiting journalists together with the      Representative. Creating a media database with contacts of field-based and visiting      journalists. Identifying needs for communications and propose ideas to further      develop communication work. Developing together with the Representative a Communication      Strategy for the War Child Programme in Lebanon. Updating and communicating the requested information to Lebanon      Support Web Site. Initiating new and innovating ways of communicating the work of War      Child Monitoring projects of WCH’s      partners which have a communication component. Initiating and collaborating with headquarters in the production of      periodical communication materials such as press releases or fact sheets. Participating in communication working groups at HQ. Assisting to conferences, meetings, workshops related to      communications. Collaborating in awareness raising campaigns organised by headquarters, and initiating and coordinating awareness raising activities from the field. Visiting the War Child partners providing support and awareness about      communications.  Other To work closely and effectively with the War Child Representative. To liaise and coordinate with the government, UN agencies, and      national and international NGOs, particularly in the field of communication   Applicant’s Profile: At least 2 years of experience working with a NGO in the      communications field. Experience in graphic design and knowledge of graphic designing      programmes. Knowledge of the Lebanese political and social context. Creative and innovative Good communication and writing skills in both Arabic and English Able to work in a flexible environment Driving licence required    Reports to the Representative. Conditions Part time job of 24  hours per week, distributed in three days according the needs of the  program. The salary for this position is between 1000 and 2000 USD gross per month on a full time bases. Local contract.  The employee will get payment for transportation and phone allowance when needed for working reasons.
