Developing Facilitation Courses

War Child Holland War Child Holland (WCH) is an independent and impartial, international nongovernmental organization investing in a peaceful future for children and young people affected by armed conflict. We support children regardless of their religion, ethnicity, social background, or gender. Our work is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. We implement programmes in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South America, and Europe. WCH believes that children and young people should play an active role in defining the future. Not only for themselves but also for their communities. Children are creative and have the ability and skills to shape their lives and cope with adversity, even when they have experienced armed conflict. Project This project aims to strengthen the facilitation skills of War Child-Lebanon staff and partners. This will be achieved by creating and delivering on an ongoing basis a set of courses for developing and enhancing facilitation skills.  WCH staff and partners will be able to choose the course and method of learning that is most suitable for them. This project is part of an ongoing process to help staff and partners of WCH Lebanon to enhance knowledge and skills related to facilitating learning, including face-to-face, online and self-directed modes. The goal of this project is to have staff who achieve an accredited standard in facilitating community processes   Consultancy Objective   We are looking for a consultant, preferably a group of consultants to support in developing 3 facilitation courses for War Child in Lebanon. Each course will follow a design of blended learning and will have a face to face version, an online facilitated version and an online self-directed version.  The courses will then be rolled out to other countries where War Child works. The three courses are: Facilitating Development in Communities Facilitating Learning Facilitating Meetings and Workshops The consultant/consultancy group will be responsible for developing the courses under the supervision, guidance and in collaboration with the War Child- Lebanon project team. The team and the consultant(s) will have at least one discussion of about one hour each week focusing on the task of that week. These will be complemented by regular status reports/ updates.   The period of the consultancy will be from September 14, 2016 to November 30, 2016.   Specific tasks (for consultancy) — the below timeframes are indicative only; actual time frames will be agreed to when developing the final implementation plan Become familiar with the WCH Global Strategy and the individual WCH Lebanon and South Sudan country strategies plus project proposal and log frame.   Time-frame:          September 14 - 16   Develop a detailed implementation plan in discussion with the project team and based on the agreed methodology and consistent with the project plan document.   Time-frame:          September 19 – 23   Identify a course design team and reference group for each course.   Time-frame:          September 26 - 30     Develop initial course design including competencies, proposed sessions, etc..   Time-frame:          October 1- 15   Review and provide feedback on the designs of each course.   Time-frame:          October 16- 20 (Draft Report to be submitted on October 20)   Revision of course designs based on feedback Time-frame:          October 21- 31 Piloting of courses   Time-frame: November 1 – December 15           Profile of consultant/consultancy group   Essential: -          Relevant academic qualifications and field experience; -          Knowledge and experience in course design and in facilitation; -          Knowledge and experience of developing competencies; -          Knowledge of and experience in strategic and organizational development; -         Fluency in English; -          Ability to operate independently and remotely with minimal supervision; -          Continuous access to reliable internet and communications;   Desirable: -          Knowledge and development of assessment of achieving learning objectives -          Knowledge of and experience in community-based approaches, including in emergencies; -          Ability to work as member of virtual team   Submission of proposal   Applications should include:   -          A CV or similar document outlining relevant skills and experience. -         A 2-3 page expression of interest which includes methodology and approach, a description of deliverables, and a timeline. -         A budgetary proposal including: Number of working days and the daily fee Unforeseen (max. 5%) Taxes The total budget   Application should be sent by COB on September 9, 2016 to this email address:  hr.lebanon@warchild.nl or alternatively deposit your application at the Country Office.
