Education Technical Officer

Core responsibilities:

  1. Monitoring and Implementing Activities:
  • Programs weekly field visits to CBOs, ITSs and Public Schools to conduct classroom observations
  • Provides on-going coaching and mentoring for facilitators and coordinates regular meetings
  • Monitors the quality of the implemented activities and ensures that technical quality is present
  • Follow up on the implementation of the curriculum and accordingly report on gaps and shortages for capacity building needs related to education and/or child protection
  • Ensures data of academic progress is accurately collected and verified/ Pre & Post Tests
  • Ensures the principles of child protection and child participation are integrated into all activities

 

Result: All field activities are monitored in such a way that complies with the Child Protection Policy and challenges are dealt with.

  1. Coordination and Communication:
  • Shares updates for internal reporting on activities, ongoing trends, highlights, and challenges to the Education Coordinator on weekly basis
  • Represents WCH in Education coordination meetings and working groups
  • Monitors and ensures that all the logistics needed are provided (Materials, Transportation, Refreshment…) of all day to day activities in all project sites
  • Ensures child protection concerns are communicated to the Child Protection focal point
  • Liaises and coordinates with field staff and work closely and effectively with the Technical Team

 

Result: Coordination and communications are conducted in such a way that requests are answered and Child Safety/ Protection concerns are reported.

3. Competency Building:

  • Identifies competency building needs of partners’ staff
  • Designs and conducts capacity building on education curricula and approaches as per the INEE Standards
  • Attends the competency building offered at War Child Holland and those offered by UN organizations and other partners as needed.
  • Cascades the competency building training to build the capacity of the Education staff.

Any other duty assigned by the Line Manager.

 

Necessary experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience working in Formal and/or Non-formal Education
  • Preferably previous experience in Integrated Projects Education, Child Protection, and Psycho-social Support
  • Preferably experience in coaching teachers and/or teacher training
  • Preferably previous experience working with children/refugees/vulnerable populations

Require skills:

  • Strong Social and Communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and be capable to deal  with difficult security conditions
  • Fluent in Arabic and strong writing skills in English
  • Capacity to work in small teams and flexibility to take on new tasks
  • Cultural sensitivity
