General Educational Teacher In Beirut (Home Of Hope)

General Education Teacher Job Objective & Responsibilities   A teacher at Home of Hope will be working with children from backgrounds of abuse and abandonment. We are looking for a teacher who is excited about working with our  children and the opportunity to help change their lives for the better.   The General Education Teacher helps guide students to be the best they can be in character (e.g. considering others, working together, believing in the themselves), thinking skills, and academics by preparing English-centered elementary-level lessons to 1-3 students ages 8-17 in a variety of subjects (ESL, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health, Life Skills).   Duties:   Prepare for coaching sessions with individual students (elementary-level) for growth in core math and English Skills. Prepare 15-30 minute elementary-level lessons and activities from our school curriculum for small groups of students (2-6) in other subjects such as Science, Social Studies, Health, and Life Skills. Write weekly student observations to be used in chronicling their growth and assessing student needs. (Usually 2-3 sentences) Actively participate in the learning community through exchanging experiences and ideas and participating in training opportunities. Modeling for students the characteristics we expect them to exhibit (e.g. respectful communication with students and staff, an excitement for learning) Translate lessons prepared and delivered by English speakers, usually not more than one day per week (many weeks this will not be necessary).   Skills and Competencies:   General Education Teachers should have a willingness to learn new ways of doing things (e.g. use of technology, educational approach, and student management). They should have good planning skills, persistence, creativity, patience, and compassion. Those looking to make a difference in someone’s life will find this job very rewarding over time, as each day is a genuine opportunity to change lives for the better.   Other Requirements:   Teacher will need their own transportation to Mansouriyeh and/or Kahaleh.  Hours are year-round, 8am - 4pm, Monday - Friday Experience teaching or working with children preferred, but not required.
