The ICT and Logistics intern is responsible for the management, maintenance and development of all ICT equipment. S/he delivers technical ICT advice and support for curriculum related activities.
S/he acts as a logistics focal point.
Position in the organisation
The ICT and LogisticsIntern is part of the Operations Department reporting to the Operations Support Manager.
S/he does not manage staff.
Result areas
Providing ICT support
- Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications;
- monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks;
- talking staff through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the telephone, to help set up systems or resolve issues;
- troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults;
- replacing parts as required;
- providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;
- supporting the roll-out of new applications;
- setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;
- responding within agreed time limits to call-outs;
- working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate);
- prioritizing and managing many open cases at one time;
- testing and evaluating new technology;
- Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment.
- Assists in planning and implementing changes to elements of the ICT service;
- Sets up equipment such as laptops, data projectors, interactive whiteboards, sound systems and other specialist ICT equipment, ensuring that systems are ready for use and operating correctly;
- Detects, diagnose and resolve most PC, printer and peripheral device faults;
- Provide timely and professional, client level technical support for our WCH community.
- Collaborate as a team member on technology initiatives and projects.
- Maintain a commitment to continual self--‐improvement through regular professional development opportunities.
- Install and deploy new equipment, and perform hardware/software upgrades and installations.
- Managing positive relationships with our technical support providers and vendors.
- Research equipment, software or other solutions and recommend improvements.
Result: ICT technical support is given to staff in such a way that issues are resolved at all times.
Knowledge and Experience
Relevant academic background (IT, Computer Science, Business…)
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar position;
Skills and Competencies
Knowledge of program development, logistics and administration;
Planning, analytical and organizational capabilities;
Strong planning and organizing skills to handle many tasks with deadlines;
Fluent English and Arabic;
Advanced computer skills;
Team player;
Result focused and cost-conscious;
Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with team members;
