Welfare Association’s Lebanon branch (WA) is seeking to hire a Communications Officer with strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, as well as photography, copywriting and PR skills.
The candidate hired for this position will need to be able to work independently and use strong critical thinking skills, must be able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and to work well in a driven and dedicated team.
Organizational Setting and Reporting
Reports to the Country Director in Lebanon.
For technical communications matters, works under the supervision of the Communications Manager in head office.
The candidate is expected to carry out most assignments independently, including resolving most problems, coordinating work with others, and determining creative approaches and techniques.
Responsibilities
Writes stories about the programs and activities of Welfare Association in Lebanon.
Produces a digital &/or print periodic Welfare Association – Lebanon Branch newsletter.
Visits project sites, conduct interviews and creates success stories and other materials as required.
Takes and/or provides high resolution photographs and maintains an accessible and well organized photo library.
Works in regular consultation with the Country Director and in collaboration with colleagues in the Beirut office head office and other offices, as required.
Assists in the development of Welfare Association’s public communications materials within the context of established guidelines and policies and in response to the needs of the Lebanon, headquarters and other offices.
Builds and maintains lists of media and other Lebanon-based contacts.
Ensures compliance with the external communications and branding guidelines and policies of Welfare Association.
Coordinates production of short videos.
Plans and coordinates social media activities.
Coordinates PR events.
Collaborates on fundraising events
Completes any other tasks as assigned by the Country Director in Lebanon.
Qualifications and position requirements
Required:
Graduate from a reputable university in the field of communications, media, journalism, or similar.
Ability to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
Work Experience: at least 3 years relevant experience.
Proven ability to write interesting and effective human interest and news stories.
Experience in social media.
Demonstrated ability and interest in photography.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Great interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues; ability to work independently and think creatively; positive, proactive and ethical attitude
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Desired:
Proven experience and contacts within the local, national and/or international non-profit community.
Ability to use Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and LightRoom.
Knowledge, experience and/or exposure to video production.
