Job Title: Agriculture Engineer (local – 1 position)

Duty station: Zahle, Lebanon, with regular on-field visits

Reporting to: Project Livelihoods Specialist - RDPP

Contract duration: 12 months full-time including a 3-month probation period

Starting date: 01 October 2025

Working Context:

WeWorld-GVC (WW-GVC) has been working in Lebanon since 2006 and is currently supporting vulnerable populations through emergency WASH, education, food security, and essential assistance interventions, as well as Water Governance and Local Economic Development programs aiming at increasing the resilience of the concerned communities, in the Beqaa Valley and Akkar. Under the ‘SAFE’ Project, WW-GVC, in partnership with Mada Association and the Lebanese Workers Rights Organization (LWRO), aims to ensure access to rights, increased safety and enhanced self-reliance in the agri-food sector for refugee and local communities in the vulnerable governorates of Lebanon.

Job description:

Within the framework of the ‘SAFE’ Project, the Agriculture Engineer will contribute to the implementation of the Project’s activities on the field, closely working with the project team, partner organizations and local stakeholders, and ensuring accountability to WW-GVC’s policies and donor rules and regulations. Moreover, the Agriculture Engineer will support the management of the Project in terms of planning, reporting, capitalization, coordination and organization.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  1. Project Execution (50%)
  • Deliver coaching and training sessions to farmers and households on agriculture, sustainable farming, and climate-smart practices, including water management and basic food safety and post-harvest handling practices relevant to small-scale food processing and household-level production.
  • Conduct regular field visits to ensure proper implementation and follow-up
  • Support the identification and selection of beneficiaries
  • Ensure that activities comply with agreed objectives, policies and established SOPs and guidelines
  • Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements based on observations and discussions with beneficiaries, partners and the Project Livelihoods Specialist.
  • Promptly report to the Project Manager and/or Project Livelihoods Specialist any challenge hindering the implementation of the activities.
  1. Reporting & Documentation (20%)
  • Prepare weekly updates and monthly reports on both household and farmer interventions
  • Ensure regular and accurate reporting to the Project Livelihoods Specialist highlighting progress, challenges, and lessons learned
  • Contribute to other ad hoc reports to meet donor and internal requirements
  • Ensure that data and documentation of all activities are properly collected and archived
  • Collect and document success stories, case studies, and photos.
  1. Coordination, Representation & Communication (30%)
  • Actively participate in coordination meetings with project partners, stakeholders, and communities
  • Represent WW-GVC in meetings with local stakeholders on agricultural and food safety issues
  • Support the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Department in collecting project indicators and sources of verification
  • Prepare for monitoring visits by donors, HQ and other stakeholders in close coordination with the Project Livelihoods Specialist and partners’ representatives
  • Facilitate and support the collection and preparation of communication and visual material in line with the visibility guidelines of the organization and the donors.
  • Coordinate with Logistics and Finance to ensure smooth implementation of activities.
  1. Other Tasks
  • Any other task assigned by the Project Manager and/or the Project Livelihoods Specialist relevant to the position and competencies of the Agriculture Engineer.

Requirements:

  1. Work Experience:
  • University Degree in Agricultural Engineering (required).
  • Minimum 2-year experience in a similar position; preferably in INGOs or equivalent;
  • Previous experience in the following areas:
    • The agri-food sector, agricultural value chains or relevant fields;
    • Micro-finance, grants management or relevant fields;
    • Familiarity with basic food safety and post-harvest handling practices;
    • Community coaching and awareness sessions
  • Previous field experience in Baalbek-Hermel and Bekaa Governorates will be considered a plus.
  1. Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English, both written and oral, with strong communication skills;
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to work autonomously, effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict mediation skills;
  • Cultural, gender, religion, and age sensitivity and adaptability;
  • Professional competencies in Microsoft Office package, especially Word and Excel.
  1. Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the field of Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Science, Agronomy or similar;
  • Driving license is a must.
