Communication And Advocacy Officer

Function & Purpose  The Communication and Advocacy Officer will be in charge of the systematization of the lessons learned. She/He will be in charge to develop tools, documentation and dissemination of GVC programs results. She/he will be in charge to develop a dissemination strategies that are designed to target specific key stakeholders and, when possible, directly duty-bearer. This strategy aims at: •Increase the compliance to protection duties of the identified duty-bearers •Provide supportive documentation and analysis to increase the collaboration and complementarity of Key stakeholders, based on specific mandates, resources, expertise and contextual capacities •Identify and/or inform specific activities of Persuasion and Mobilization that can enhance the Protection of groups and peoples •Link actions with longer terms initiative and mechanisms that can guarantee the needed continuum to assure the proper protection of groups and peoples. The Communication and Advocacy Officer will work closely with GVC’s HQ Communication Department  to ensure harmonious implementation of all campaigns and GVC news and updates, off-line and online. Principal Duties & Responsibilities  Strategic level •In charge of the elaboration and supervision of a national Work Plan and Financial Planning of all External GVC Communication and Advocacy Activities, hereby assuring their timely and concurrent completion in Lebanon and HQ. •Develop within the first 3 months a GVC Country Office communication strategy and workplan •Collecting and analyzing data and managing information within GVC’s implemented projects with regard to beneficiaries awareness, communication, advocacy and visibility activities •Creating press releases on monthly basis, project report components related to communication, visibility and advocacy. •Supervise, in coordination with the Protection Officers and Data Analysts, the elaboration of a community profile for any targeted ITS/community within the GVC Projects’ scope. Assure the constant update of the community profiles •Elaborating communication/advocacy/visibility innovative programs •Supporting the existing communication/advocacy/visibility initiatives promoted by bodies and working groups where GVC is a member •Contribute to awareness/visibility campaigns locally promoted or initiated by and ensure proper flows of information with the Headquarter in Italy •Coordinate and produce a fact-sheet for any project implemented by GVC and specific fact-sheet anytime required by the Sector Coordinators. •Coordinate and produce brochures, project publications, draft correspondence, videos/audios and other relevant materials related to implemented projects and GVC Lebanon in general •Create appropriate links between the various communication means, including with project partners and national counterparts, as appropriate •Develop, manage and improve GVC website content, gaining input from other projects staff •Develop a list of worthy members of the press and maintain good relationship with them •Develop specific internal procedures and tools to share and maintain information within GVC staff in Lebanon •Any other activities as specified by GVC management and endorsed by the Country Representative Project level •In charge of the elaboration of the specific Work Plan and Financial Planning of all Communication and Advocacy Activities, hereby assuring their timely and concurrent completion. •Responsible of collecting, systematizing and manage information and photographic references of the activities, on monthly basis in coordination with the Protection Officers and Data Analysts. •Produce monthly outreach derivable (factsheets, case studies, newsletters, articles, etc.) on constant basis. •Report on monthly basis to the Project Managers on the progress of the activities with reference to the initial Work Plan. •Coordinating specific communication and advocacy initiatives as per defined projects’ activities with particular reference to specific donor’s guidelines and requirements •In close teaming with other team members and stakeholders, develop and ensure timely implementation of a workplan on communication and outreach that ensures full consonance with donors visibility guidelines and plans •Organize and support awareness campaigns in cooperation with GVC HQ  Communication Office •Document good practices and innovative methodologies implemented within the project.   Skills Requirements A minimum of 3 years practical experience in communication and advocacy field for local and international NGOs; Knowledge and understanding of NGOs and nonprofits sector An ability to be proactive in developing plans, activities and relationships with stakeholders Experience with the use of IT, online and social media tools to advance organizational communications and visibility goals Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic. Additional languages are an asset   Preferred Qualities   Superior inter-personal communication skills including the ability to work with multi-cultural teams and groups Ability to influence individuals and groups through the use of diplomacy, negotiation and strategy Ability to achieve goals and meet deadlines Self-motivated, intelligent, articulate, detail-oriented and able to manage and complete multiple tasks and assignments Strong team and collaborative work skills Excellent strategic thinking enhanced with ability to achieve results
