Community Awarness Coordinator (Re-Posting)

Job Description In the framework of WASH and Shelter interventions targeting refugee communities settled in North Bekaa, G.V.C. is seeking a qualified and committed Community Awareness Coordinator who, in close coordination with the Local Coordinator and the Project Manager, is responsible for implementing activities related to the mobilization and awareness raising of community members in the project areas, specifically: liaising with the local partners and supervise the Community Mobilizers; ensuring appropriate community involvement in the design, delivery and maintenance of WASH/Shelter services and facilities; promoting safe hygiene practices, including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services.   Duties and responsibilities Community Mobilization and Awareness Identify, maintain and stimulate partnerships with governmental and non-governmental partners Liaise with local partners to improve their role in delivering assistance to refugee communities and to ensure that activities are performed on schedule and according to the project plans and strategy Provide training and guidance to the Community Mobilizers and Social Workers, including plan, manage and supervise their field work Design an appropriate approach to mobilize refugee communities to ensure their participation in the project activities e.g. creation of committee to carry out site improvement works, management and maintenance of WASH facilities, waste disposal Organize and deliver community involvement and awareness raising activities, including Hygiene Promotion Serve as the community organizer and mobilizer in Informal Settlements to activate, stimulate and supervise community involvement activities, organize and conduct community meetings and focus group discussions Plan, monitor and evaluate activities in coordination with the project team Collect data and information from the field, provide regular updates on progress Coordination with other GVC staff to ensure synergy and integration of project strategies and interventions.   Work Environment: 80% field work Qualifications and Skills Degree in Public Health, Hygiene Promotion, Community Development or related At least 1 year of practical experience in relevant community development, Hygiene Promotion; in design, implementation and evaluation of community mobilization program in WASH related interventions Familiarity with the culture of the displaced population Ability to communicate effectively on project matters. Diplomacy, tact, and negotiating skills. Good planning, organization and reporting skills Ability to work independently and under pressure Ability and willingness to conduct daily field visit to the Informal Settlements located in the project areas Very good command of written and spoken English Ability to write clear reports Ability to cope with insecure environment Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish working relations with target communities and project team
