Project Coordinator-Akkar

GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971. Actually is working in 22 countries worldwide. GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the begin of Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa and Akkar, financed by International Donors mainly in WASH sector.

GVC is actually recruiting personnel to cover the position of Project Coordinator to support activities in Akkar.

Position Title: Project Coordinator

Project Framework: AICS Education

Reporting to: Project Manager-Area Manager                     

Duty station: Qobayat - Akkar with weekly visit to all the area of intervention and the other offices of GVC in the country

Salary grade & level: Grade 6 Level 1 ($1,700 - $1,910)

OBJECTIVES:

The Project Coordinator provides support to the team through assessment, planning, monitoring and documentation, capacity building support (training and facilitation) and coordination with the local partners to implement the project.

MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for overseeing the development and execution of project deliverables, lead project planning, budgeting, action plans and monitoring processes, under the supervision of the Project Manager;
• Ensure project activities comply with the policies and regulations of the donor organization;
• Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project;
• Supervise the procurement process in coordination with the logistic department PM and AM;
• Plan and facilitate kick-off workshop with different departments, as well as coordinate partner meetings throughout the project period;
• Monitor the implementation and progress of the project according to approved stated objectives, work plan, budget and record progress by working closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation unit, and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project;
• Monitor the progress of the project against set indicators in a timely manner;
• Participate periodic evaluations of the impact of the project on the beneficiaries with support from the MEAL department;
• Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements in programme and materials based on observations and discussions with beneficiaries, partners, Project Manager;
• Ensure procurement requests are presented on a timely basis to facilitate timely implementation of field activities, ensuring cost efficiency and accountability in compliance with GVC Lebanon and donor regulations and procedures;
• Prepare periodic project narrative reports as well as other ad hoc reports, according to GVC Lebanon and donor requirements;
• Employ resourcefulness in project design, implementation and monitoring;
• Trouble shoots project problems, and identify and implement creative solutions;
• Represent GVC in relevant forums/working groups at local level;
• Ensure close collaboration and coordination with the Project Manager and Emergency Program Coordinator;
• Ensure regular visits to the field to assess the project’s implementation.

EXPECTED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• High Degree in social sciences, management, economics, international development, conflict mitigation, international relations or other relevant field
• Proficient in English and Arabic, both written and oral (Italian would be a plus)
• Driving license is required
• Demonstrated experience in project coordination, project-level monitoring, project development, as well as active team management;
• A minimum of 2 years of professional management experience;
• Communication and reporting skills;
• Detail oriented;
• Ability to perform under pressure;
• Microsoft office – all applications and software applications required for daily operations

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Basic Salary: According to GVC salary grid ($1,700 - $1,910)

Transportation: $120 (Included in the Net Salary)

Expected Starting date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 14 months

Type of contract: Fixed Employment Contract

Renewable or not: According to the availability of funds and performance

Social insurance: NSSF in addition to a medical insurance
