Protection Coordinator

GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971. Actually is working in 22 countries worldwide. GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the begin of Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa financed by International Donors mainly in WASH sector. GVC is actually recruiting personnel to cover the position of Protection Coordinator to support activities in Bekaa Position Title: Protection Coordinator Reporting to: Protection Program Manager Duty station: Zahle (with frequent travels in the Bekaa) Salary grade: G6 OBJECTIVES: GVC is seeking a Protection Coordinator for its programming which will be responsible for assisting the organization and the Programme Managers to ensure timely a good quality of protection supervision over the protection team while supporting line-managers in relevant tasks. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage, mainstream and assure consistency of the implementation of GVC Community-based Protection Approach in all targeted areas • Lead the systematization and elaboration of synergies between the Protection team, the WASH and the info management team • Conduct systematic coaching for the staff to mainstream protection and management • Draft result-based reports based in collaboration with the Protection info managmenet officer and the protection officer • Ensure implementation of the GVC national advocacy strategy • Ensure full implementation of the Protection Mainstreaming SOP Management: • Oversee programme implementation to ensure timely delivery of project activities. • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities according to donor requirement • Ensure result-based monitoring of activities and provide on-time internal reports • Participate in project evaluations and assist in the analysis of the results, assess project impact and effective use of resources. • Provide supervision, guidance and monitoring for programme staff, ensuring clarity over programme plans and priorities and encouraging effective team work. • Facilitate regular staff meetings to ensure awareness of programme objectives, and opportunity for feedback • Bi-monthly provide staff coaching and technical supervision to develop ownership / responsibility for project Communication and coordination: • Participate in Protection working groups other relevant working groups or meetings as required, representing GVC and feeding back to the Programme Manager • Develop and maintain appropriate, regular, transparent and supportive communication structures with the assigned programme staff, the GVC WASH sector coordinator with the objective of ensuring good cooperation and partnerships. QUALIFICATIONS • Master’s degree in Law, International Law, Human Rights, International Affairs, or related field • At least 3 years of professional experience in the Protection sector and in project implementation • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities without daily supervision • Previous work in NGOs is mandatory • Driving licence PERSONAL AND INTER-PERSONAL SKILLS • Arabic and Fluency in written and spoken English • Good communication skills (with local authorities and communities) • Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles and values • Highly organised and able to work respecting deadlines • Passion of the job, sense of Humour, flexibility and willingness to work long hours • Ability to work in team with respect • Being flexible and with the ability to adjust to changes and new requirements EMPLOYEMENT CONDITIONS • Contract duration: 11 months full-time with possibility to renew; • Required Starting Date: ASAP • Duty Station: Zahle with frequent travels to the North Bekaa and Beirut (GVC office)
