Protection Officer

GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971. Actually is working in 22 countries worldwide. GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the begin of Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa financed by International Donors mainly in WASH sector. GVC is actually recruiting personnel to cover the position of Protection Officer to support activities in Bekaa Position Title:                   Protection officer-Nationals Only Reporting to:               Protection Coordinator - Protection Program Manager Duty station:                     Zahle/Al Ain Salary grade:                    G5 OBJECTIVES: GVC is seeking a Protection officer for its programming which will be responsible for assisting the organization and the Programme Managers to ensure timely a good quality of protection supervision over the protection team while supporting line-managers in relevant tasks. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure constant update of the service providers database Ensure Protection activities are guided by the GVC protection strategy Ensure that Protection incidents are immediately identified and referred to the right service provider Organize weekly staff meetings to ensure timely and constant update/follow-up of activities Ensure awareness sessions on protection issues are timely designed and implemented Ensure appropriate weekly planning and reporting Ensure all the documentation is appropriate and properly maintained Coordinate with the Community Empowerment team to ensure continuous assessment and evaluation of activities using the community-based approach Contribute with the National Protection Coordinator to and facilitate a results-based advocacy programming Contribute to and facilitate effective information management through the provision of disaggregated data on populations,problems and coping strategies Support the info-officer in reporting on Activity info Support in advocacy and communication activities when required. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in social science, international law, or similar subject.   At least 2 years of previous experience in the humanitarian sector within the Protection sector Previous work in NGOs will be an asset Driving licence PERSONAL AND INTER-PERSONAL SKILLS Arabic and Fluency in written and spoken English Good communication skills (with local authorities and communities) Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles and values Highly organised and able to work respecting deadlines Passion of the job, sense of Humour, flexibility and willingness to work long hours Ability to work in team with respect Being flexible and with the ability to adjust to changes and new requirements EMPLOYEMENT CONDITIONS Contract duration: 11 months full-time with possibility to renew; Required Starting Date: ASAP Duty Station: 20% Zahle (GVC office) 80% North Bekaa (GVC Ain Office).
