Job Title: Research Analyst   

Location: North East Bekaa

Duration: 3 Months (Consultancy Contract)

Reporting to: LED Project Manager

  1. Scope of the Position

We World-GVC is partnering with Fondazione Giovanni Paolo II and The Nawaya Network for the implementation of the project “Promoting the local economy in North East Bekaa”, funded by the European Union – ARED. The project responds to the general objective “Contribute to stability in Lebanon by promoting local development, improving the socio-economic conditions and reducing levels of conflict in the North East Bekaa area” through supporting economic development with a focus on strengthening agricultural value chains.

  1. Main Objective

Within the project framework, WW-GVC is looking for a Research Analyst to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the qualitative and quantitative data collected via a multi-sectoral assessment in eight (8) Municipalities in North East Bekaa. The analysis aims at identifying priorities of interventions under the different sectors (e.g., access to basic services, livelihood, agriculture, energy etc..); based on the validated priorities, the Research Analyst will assist the Project Manager to create municipalities’ profiles and recovery plans at municipal levels. On the basis of the priorities identified during the analysis phase, the incumbent to translate the priorities in comprehensive developmental objectives, with a particular focus on gender and youth mainstreaming.  The incumbent is expected to provide a socio-economic analysis of the primary data collected in the eight Municipalities to integrate the extensive literature review and secondary data already compiled by WW-GVC. For each locality, the analysis should articulate the main needs, gaps and priorities emerged.

  1. Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret research collected data that will feed into the formulation of municipalities’ profiles and recovery plans based on the data collected in addition to teams’ feedback
  • Analyse data using various statistical methods and understand the reason behind contradictory findings
  • Gather accurate, credible information on the area of intervention subject where needed
  • Interpret data analysis results and draw inferences and conclusions
  • Write reports to present the data and the implications of the results
  • Maintain quality controls standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings
  • Collaborate with the Projects’ teams, key stakeholders and municipalities
  1. Qualification & Experience:
  • Master’s degree in sociology, socioeconomics, environmental studies, community and rural development, natural resources management, sustainable rural livelihoods, or related fields
  • Demonstrated previous experience in applying qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Excellent report writing, data collection and analysis skills and ability to communicate results internally and to external stakeholders
  • High proficiency in Arabic and English is mandatory
  • Relevant experience with qualitative data analysis software (NVivo, ATLAS, etc.), qualitative methods of research and coding of qualitative data is mandatory
  • Experience with statistics and data science toolkits (e.g., R, Stata, Python, etc) and data visualization applications (e.g., MS Power BI, Qlik, Tableau) is preferable
