Senior Wash Engineer

GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971. Actually is working in 22 countries worldwide. GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the begin of Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa financed by International Donors mainly in WASH sector. GVC is actually recruiting personnel to cover the position of  SENIOR WASH ENGINEER to support activities in Bekaa. OBJECTIVES: The WASH Senior Engineer will be responsible for assisting the organization and the Programme Manager concerning all WASH and shelter related activities. In particular he will support in needs identification, new proposal writing, engineers field work follow up and any other related issue. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervision the progress of all infrastructural activities across different projects; Supervision the progress of social activities finalize to a good water management awareness; Guarantee smooth implementation of activities between the Contractors, Communities and local authorities; Guarantee that all the technical documentation is properly filled, updated and classified; Ensure quality analysis of the all technical activities done in the field Develop a certain degree of autonomy in managing issues related to the daily implementation of the activities; Report to and discuss with the PM any issues which may have a direct impact on the general implementation of the project and the organisation’s activities in the area; Plan and organize weekly plan for the engineers; Coordinate with the line manager for daily implementation of the activities; Maintain good working relations with beneficiaries, contractors, authorities and all stakeholder involved in the project Cooperate and coordinate with other GVC personnel Guarantee open and continues dialogue with the social activity coordinator Contribute to identify new project in the sector and prepare technical documentation and project proposals. Participate in coordination meeting held in the GVC Offices. Participate in Sectorial WGs meetings; Any other task not here listed and necessary to the projects and activitiesThe engineer is a GVC representative, and at all times is responsible for representing GVC appropriately to the community. PERSONAL AND INTER-PERSONAL SKILLS Arabic and Fluency in written and spoken English Good communication skills (with local authorities and communities) Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles and values Highly organised and able to work respecting deadlines Strong sense of responsibility, flexibility and willingness to work long hours Ability to work independently while at the same time cooperating with other staff members as well as beneficiaries Deep knowledge of Bekaa environment would be considered an asset Being flexible and with the ability to adjust to changes and new requirement
