WASH & Shelter Daily Worker

GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971 and is currently working in 22 countries worldwide. GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the start of the Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa financed by International Donors mainly in Emergency Response.

GVC is actually recruiting personnel to cover the position of WASH & Shelter daily worker to support activities in Bekaa

Position Title:                WASH & Shelter Daily Worker

Reporting to:                 WASH and Shelter Senior Officer

Duty station:                  Al Ain with daily travel to project areas in GVC all over Lebanon

OBJECTIVES:

The activities of GVC in the north of the Bekaa are mainly focused on Emergency Response (WASH and Shelter) and implementation of the Community Protection Approach (CPA). The CPA is a methodology which comprises a context-specific process of multi-sectorial assessment and right-based analysis to determine immediate patterns of risks and analyze the degree of the population’s resilience against such risks.

In this context GVC is recruiting Field Monitor to conduct assessment and data collection, to identify needs and information that could lead to the preparation of referrals and to implement Emergency Response, WASH and Shelter intervention such as distribution and awareness sessions.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• The daily worker will be responsible to conduct field assessments through collective interviews, FGD, HH visits and any other data collection tool provided by GVC.
• The daily worker will be responsible for the good and correct collection of data using ODK methods. S/He will be responsible to timely submit the information collected during the day.
• The daily worker will be responsible, during field distribution activities (items distributed: Shelter kits, WASH supplies, NFI, etc.) for the provision of materials to the designated beneficiary and for the collection of handovers;
• The daily worker will be responsible for the collection of water samples;
• The daily worker is responsible for preparing accurate and timely reports of their individual activities to the supervisor. In particular, this includes maintaining signed records of the engagement and activities with the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Technical background.
• 1-2 years of previous proven experience in the implementation of WASH, Shelter or other technical activities
• Good level of proficiency in the use of MS Excel and MS Word
• Previous work in NGOs will be an asset
• Valid driving licence

PERSONAL AND INTER-PERSONAL SKILLS

• Native Arabic and fluency in written and spoken English
• Good communication skills (with beneficiaries and communities)
• Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles and values
• Highly organised and able to work respecting deadlines
• Ability to work in team
• Being flexible and with the ability to adjust to changes and new requirements
• Deep knowledge of Bekaa environment would be considered an asset

EMPLOYEMENT CONDITIONS

• Contract duration: October- December 2019- Consultancy, daily basis  
• Required Starting Date: ASAP
• Duty Station: Based in Al Ain (GVC office) with daily field activities in target areas in Bekaa, including Masharia Al-Qaa.
