Job Summary:
As a Communication Officer at WND, the communication officer will play a crucial role in advancing our mission to promote gender equality, empower women, and advocate for the rights of marginalized communities. This position requires a skilled communicator who is passionate about social justice and committed to amplifying the voices of those often unheard. The role incorporates a safeguarding component to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals involved in our initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Communication:
- Develop and implement communication strategies that align with the organization's principles and objectives.
- Create engaging content for various platforms, including social media, newsletters, website, and other communication channels.
- Ensure messaging is inclusive, intersectional, and respectful of diverse perspectives within the context.
- Media Relations:
- Cultivate relationships with media outlets to increase the visibility of the organization and its initiatives.
- Draft press releases, articles, and other materials to promote key messages and events.
- Respond to media inquiries and act as a spokesperson for the organization when necessary.
- Content Creation:
- Produce compelling and informative content, including written articles, visual materials, and multimedia presentations.
- Collaborate with the implementing team to develop visually appealing and impactful materials. Taking into account the donor`s regulation for media mentions and tags.
- Collaborate with Project managers to produce Success Stories and Case Studies on a quarterly basis for all activities.
- Community Engagement:
- Facilitate dialogue and engagement with the organization's community through online and offline channels.
- Encourage the participation of diverse voices and perspectives in discussions and campaigns.
- Safeguarding:
- Implement safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all individuals involved in the organization's activities.
- Report any safeguarding issues reported through media and communication channels to Safeguarding focal point.
- Report any feedback or complaints received through media and communication channels to MEAL Coordinator.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Track and analyze the impact of communication strategies and initiatives.
- Gather feedback from the community to continuously improve communication approaches.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other teams within the organization to ensure communication efforts align with programmatic goals.
- Work closely with the Advocacy team to integrate communication strategies into advocacy campaigns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism,Gender Studies, or a related field.
- Proven experience in communication, public relations, or a related role.
- Familiarity with feminist principles and a commitment to gender equality and social justice.
- Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with social media management and content creation.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and experience implementing safeguarding policies is an asset.
