Community Worker (Palestinian Nationality only)

Background

The Women’s Programs Association (WPA) is a non-governmental organization registered in the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities in 2008 under license number 344. WPA targets Palestinian refugee women and youth in eight camps throughout Lebanon with a wide range of activities to build their capacity, skills, knowledge and assets to develop themselves and their families and widen their opportunity for employment and decent life.

WPA’s programs include skills training, support education to school drop-out children, adult literacy and numeracy and life skills, pre-school education, lending programs for micro-businesses and consumer loans, psycho-social support, awareness raising on wide range of topics of concerns to women and girls, social cohesion and recreational activities in addition to production units in food catering.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the field task and activities in coordination with the Project officer and maintain day-to-day relations with the beneficiaries.
  • Participate in outreach for beneficiaries and and inform about the project and attract new beneficiaries.
  • Ensure the enrolment and registration of participants in the different project activities and sessions.
  • Prepare and participate in activities, seminars and workshops organized by WPA
  • Follow up with participants, by communicating with them to ensure that they attend regularly.
  • Ensure to always have all material available for the activities and ensure that the materials are securely restored.
  • Responsible for documenting center’s activities through video, photos, success stories… for WPA’s website and donors’ reports. Positively interact with participants and encouraging them to express their feelings, needs, and stories.
  • Participate in internal weekly/ monthly meetings regarding the activities of the project; challenges, progress, successes, and lessons learned.
  • Collect and report all information relative to the activities and submitting weekly and monthly reports to project officer

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in social work, project management, , or proven relevant experience
  • Three to five years of cumulative experience in implementing community development activities, preferably projects that engage multiple parties including NGOs or humanitarian agencies, and local community stakeholders.
  • Proven experience with adolescents and youth
