WORK RELATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS
Under the direct supervision of the Business Operations Associate and overall guidance of Operations Specialist and Head of WCO Lebanon, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of the national traffic laws and rules protocol and security issues. Instructions are normally given on an ad hoc basis, routine duties are carried out according to the established schedule; fulfillment of assignments is checked on a regular basis.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will perform all or part of the following duties and other related responsibilities as required by the needs of the office:
• Provide reliable and secure driving services by:
- Driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel, including for field visits, and the delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items;
- Meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport and facilitating immigration and customs formalities, as required;
- Checking for availability of all the required documents/supplies for the assigned vehicle, including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, first aid kit and necessary spare parts;
- Logging official trips, daily mileage, gas/electricity consumption.
• Undertake day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, oil changes, checking tyres and brakes, car washing and making arrangements for major repairs.
• Report any incidents/ accidents as per the steps outlined in the rules and regulations.
• Perform messenger duties such as handling deliveries, collecting and loading/unloading mail, documents and goods or supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
*Essential
Secondary, technical, or commercial school and a valid public driving license.
Desirable
Basic mechanics' certificate and first aid training.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
*Essential
Minimum one year of work experience as a driver with a safe driving record.
Desirable
Experience in driving within WHO or another United Nations agency would be an asset.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent knowledge of Arabic language and Intermediate knowledge of English language.
