Consultant Expert In Capacity Building

Project Background  Expand Your Horizons (EYH), a three year USAID-funded project, aims to build the technical and professional capacity of Lebanese organizations and their employees to play a more effective role in their community.  The project aims to achieve this through; 1- Strengthening the capacity of 150 organizations from various sectors and 400 of their employees in selected core skills and competencies through training and follow-on support activities; 2- Increasing communications and networking among participating organizations and individuals.   EYH will identify and select Partner Organizations from civil society, public sector, and private sector, based on a clear and preset criteria and then conduct an organizational self-assessment covering major components of organizational capacity development to identify organizational needs.  EYH will work closely with organizations to develop organizational and individual employee development plans highlighting areas of need for improvement, objectives to be achieved by training, and implement effective applicable follow-on support activities.  Trainings will be delivered by highly qualified training providers in Lebanon, the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region, the US, and Europe based on the training needs identified in the assessment process.   EYH will provide post-training support to the organizations’ staff to ensure and capture impact of the training solutions at the individual and organizational levels.  Follow-on activities are designed to improve organizational performance and knowledge sharing, and build networks among participating organizations and individuals.   Scope and Purpose  EYH seeks a consultant to work on the mapping of Lebanese civil society organizations and public sector institutions such as municipalities working on alleviating socio-economic burdens of Lebanese communities hosting Syrian refugees in underprivileged areas with emphasis on organizations working with women and people with disabilities.  These organizations should have a need to develop their organizational capacities.  The consultant will also develop relevant sector-specific questions related to the needs of the sector and the organizations operating in it. The assignment is expected to last no more than 3 days total over a period of one month.   Timeframe (approximate)  2 days for finalizing the mapping of stakeholders   1 day development of questions for the sector section of the assessment  Deliverables  Finalize mapping of key stakeholders and organizations deemed crucial in alleviating socio-economic burdens of Lebanese communities in underprivileged areas (i.e. Lebanese civil society organizations, public institutions such as municipalities, municipal unions, etc.) Tailor questions for the sector specific section of the self-assessment tool Design sector specific questions on the sector’s needs, as well as the needs of the organizations operating in it.  Qualifications  University degree in Social Sciences and/or a relevant specialization  At least 5 years experience working in development  Knowledge of capacity building for CSOs and/or public institutions and knowledge of  such operations outside the greater Beirut area Experience in facilitation Excellent Arabic and English
