Project Overview QITABI is a four year, $41.2 million project that will improve both access to education and learning outcomes in primary schools, in addition to supporting institutional effectiveness across MEHE (Ministry of Education and Higher Education) in Lebanon. QITABI aims to improve outcomes in reading at the primary level, under the assumption that increased literacy directly correlates to increased academic and professional achievement. Improved facilities, services, and teaching – along with more effectively engaged communities and school councils – will not only improve learning outcomes, but also increase the chances of youth remaining in the formal education system. The project has three components: Component 1: Improving reading outcomes for primary level public school students Component 2: Expanding access to safe and relevant education for vulnerable public school students Component 3: Strengthening management (resilience) in the education system to better direct and monitor education The Assignment Under the QITABI project, Component 2, World Learning aims to pilot the ECCN's Safer Learning Environments (SLE) Qualitative Assessment Tool in different communities. The instrument measures internal, external and environmental threats students face in/ going to or from a learning environment and related to schooling; in particular, in terms of their ability to access faced by children and youth in crisis and conflict. Under the direct supervision and close collaboration with Systems and Policies officer, a team of 4 Data Collectors will be recruited to support in piloting the SLE toolkit in two different communities. More specifically: -          Before the pilot phase, the data collector will be trained on the SLE Tools; -          In close collaboration with the Systems and Policies officer, s/he will pilot the tools in two different communities; data collection will include focus groups and key informant interviews; -          Record on the data collection form all the required information that will be pertinent to the research. S/he will follow the guidelines of the data collection guidelines; -          After each data collection day, s/he will be responsible of data entry and coding (as necessary); During the whole process, s/he will adhere to confidentiality procedures and policies when collecting, storing and sharing data; and adhere to Dress Code as per the project manager guidelines.    Qualifications: Minimum degree in Education/ Social sciences; At least 2 years’ experience in the education sector; Experience in data collection and assessment; Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic language; Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is preferable; Capacity to interact effectively and professionally with the project team and school staff and students; Able to anticipate unusual situations and make quick and responsible decisions. Ability to work in a fast-moving, complex, and multi-cultural environment; Ability to think and work logically, with careful attention to detail; Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills.   Assignment Duration The duration of the assignment is for 7-working days (training on tools, piloting instruments and data entry).
