Background:  IBESP is a four-year, $41.2 million project that will improve both access to education and learning outcomes in primary schools, in addition to supporting institutional effectiveness across MEHE.  IBESP aims to improve outcomes in reading at the primary level, under the assumption that increased literacy directly correlates to increased academic and professional achievement.  Improved facilities, services, and teaching – along with more effectively engaged communities and school councils – will not only improve learning outcomes, but also increase the chances of youth to persist in the formal education system. The project has three components: Component 1: Improving reading outcomes for primary level public school students Component 2: Expanding access to safe and relevant education for vulnerable public school students Component 3: Strengthening management (resilience) in the education system to better direct and monitor education   Primary Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for the running of the daily activities in the communities surrounding targeted primary public schools as well as for the implementation of the Non-Formal Education (NFE) program of IBESP. This will include providing education services, solutions to the barriers to education, recreational support, and life skills trainings and other as needed at the level of the primary public school.   Work closely and report to the NFE Manager to develop community assessment tools Coordinate and manage daily educational and recreational activities effectively involved in the primary public school and in field areas Implement education activities: needs analysis, focus-group discussions, and any other activities in coordination with direct supervisors Assist in the development of any program-related surveys and other appropriate field-based studies; collect and gather information which will ensure ongoing exchange of information among all partners and program senior staff Prepare monthly and weekly reports on activities and results Constantly monitor and follow up on the quality of education services provided in the primary public school in coordination with school-based teams in the project Have a clear idea about education activities other institutions working in the same area are carrying out with Syrian refugees and other vulnerable students Represent the organization in a professional and respectful manner in the working area Contribute to the development of referral mechanisms in collaboration with EiE Team Be responsible for designing the needed forms, questionnaires, and other templates Be responsible for maintaining the archiving system up to date (both in hardcopies and electronically) Ensure project implementation in compliance with World Learning policies Perform any other task as assigned by IBESP management   Characteristics Required: BA in Education or in Social Science preferred or other related At least 3 years’ experience in education programs (preferably in learning support programs or literacy activities) Experience in community sensitization and mobilization Has worked in emergency response or with marginalized communities Ability to work under pressure, team spirit, training/coaching ability, flexibility Ability and willingness to commute almost daily to all areas in Lebanon; driving license and car required Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work independently and within a team Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Fluency in English and Arabic, both spoken and written, is required.  Knowledge of French is preferred.
