Background

USAID’s “Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” (QITABI 2) is a five-year program seeking to improve learning outcomes for all students in public primary schools in Lebanon. Its activity targets an estimated 200,000 girls and boys, including those who are registered in second shifts of public schools.

World Learning has an immediate vacancy “Math E-content developer” for primary school math education for its Beirut-based USAID-funded Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement (QITABI-2) in Lebanon.

Scope and Responsibilities

The Math E-content Developer will work closely and report to World Learning’s Beirut office Math Specialist to develop Digital lessons for grades 1 – 6 for public schools throughout Lebanon; in addition, the consultant will report to QITABI – 2  Math Specialist  and coordinate with its technical team.

The ideal candidate will have focus on primary school education in Math, with deep knowledge of Lebanese Math national curriculum and policies with advanced technological skills.

The consultant will be able to:

• Develop digital lessons according to CERD DL template including (PowerPoints, videos, etc.), that should be posted online, using structured pedagogy, that fit within the scope and sequence of the Lebanese 1997 Math curriculum in English
• Develop unit/ lesson plans aligned with primary Mathematics Lebanese curriculum including mathematical activities for CERD and MEHE when needed
• Develop diagnostic, formative and summative assessment relevant to primary Mathematics Lebanese curriculum for CERD and MEHE when needed
• Review and evaluate primary Mathematics educational resources in light of Lebanese Mathematics curriculum.
• Ability to work with distance learning and web conferencing while developing digital lessons and for that purpose
• Translate and enhance animated lessons (PowerPoints, videos, etc.), that should be posted online, using structured pedagogy, that fit within the scope and sequence of the Lebanese 1997 Math curriculum from French to English

Required Qualifications:

Education BS/ Master’s degree in Math Education with a focus on primary school education

• Excellent spoken and written English
• Excellent Educational Technology skills in Math education

Experience and competencies

• Teacher training experience
• Minimum 7 years’ experience teaching grades 1-6 Math in Lebanon
• Knowledge of national Mathematics curriculum scope and sequence
• Experience in teaching and/or working at the primary school level in Lebanon
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and flexibility with project demands
• Expert in Microsoft office
• Commitment to work under pressure
• Possesses interpersonal skills.
