The UNICEF-funded Dirasa Program and Makani Program aim to provide multiple, flexible pathways for out-of-school children, tailored to each child’s unique learning needs. These programs will be implemented in private and semi-private schools, as well as community centers, targeting out-of-school children and offering retention support for students currently enrolled in schools.
The Math Officer will focus on primary education, developing scope and sequences, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with Lebanon’s national curriculum. Responsibilities include collaborating with SEL Specialists to integrate social and emotional learning into the Math curriculum, co-developing scope and sequences for grades 1-6, creating structured model lessons, sourcing Math resources, and managing additional assigned tasks.
Main Responsibilities
- The Math Officer should have a focus on primary school education in Math, be able to create scope and sequences, lesson plans, and classroom-based assessments, and have knowledge of national curriculum and policies for Math in Lebanon.
- The Math Officer will also work closely with the SEL Specialists to ensure social and emotional learning is embedded in the Math curriculum. The specialist will be able to:
- Co-develop scope and sequence for Math grades 1 – 6 based on international best practices and adapt scope and sequence to the Lebanese context
- Develop model lessons, using structured pedagogy that fits within the scope and sequence.
- Collaborate on locating Math resources and e- resources for primary grades students and teachers
- Embed elements of social and emotional learning into model lesson plans.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of national Math curriculum and policies in Math
- Knowledge of classroom-based assessment systems
- Fluent in English, knowledge of French is an advantage
- Able to travel in Lebanon for conferences/meetings/training/school visits.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and flexibility with project demands
