Background: IBESP is a four year, $41.2 million project that will improve both access to education and learning outcomes in primary schools, in addition to supporting institutional effectiveness across MEHE. IBESP aims to improve outcomes in reading at the primary level, under the assumption that increased literacy directly correlates to increased academic and professional achievement. Improved facilities, services, and teaching – along with more effectively engaged communities and school councils – will not only improve learning outcomes, but also increase the chances of youth remaining in the formal education system. The project has three components:
Component 1: Improving reading outcomes for primary level public school students
Component 2: Expanding access to safe and relevant education for vulnerable public school students
Component 3: Strengthening management (resilience) in the education system to better direct and monitor education
Primary Responsibilities
The Officer (Non-Formal Education & Accelerated Learning) will be work closely with the Education in Emergency Component lead and the Non-Formal Education Manager for the coordination and implementation of Component 2 activities’.
This position demands an independent and dedicated individual with experience in managing education projects in an emergency setting.
Assist and support in the implementation of activities related to the component
Assist in the backstopping of the component in close collaboration with Education in Emergency Component lead and the Non-Formal Education Manager
Provide daily administrative support to other staff by creating monthly calendars, provide logistical support, draft correspondence
Produce meeting minutes when engaged in meetings
Coordinate and assist on the collection of NFE related data such as enrollment, centers, locations and others
Provide the proper support for the collection of M&E data and the use of M&E tools such as surveys and questionnaires in the field
Prepare and maintain data files (electronically and manually)
Manage internal databases
Arrange training venues and conferences
Schedule appointments and meetings for internal and external events
Review and summarize background documentation for areas within portfolio
Facilitate the component administration and support in the delivery of program activities that support access to quality education.
Write quarterly reports describing field activity, documenting lessons learnt, best practices, and case studies
Travel regularly, and as needed, to the regions to assist in the monitoring and follow-up on project activities.
Required Qualifications
Master degree in Education, Social Science or other related field
Minimum 4 years’ experience in education or in emergencies programs
Professional experience in an office environment, Experience working in NGOs or INGO is preferred
Strong administrative and management skills.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize and multi task.
Ability to work as a team player and adapt to quick changing situations.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Proficiency in spoken/written English and Arabic is required; fluency in French is preferred.
