Project Description
World Learning is developing 5 sets of instruments for use in the World Bank’s Understanding the Classroom Practices and Performance of Teachers segment of the Research for Results (R4R) study in Lebanon. The project aims to enhance knowledge about effective classroom-level practices in Lebanon and their relations to the quality of education delivered. In this project, 4th and 7th grade classrooms in approximately 120 schools (including public, private, and subsidized private) throughout Lebanon will be examined in depth. World learning will develop the research instruments with a team half in the United States and half in Lebanon. The tools will be piloted in 6 schools. Following the pilot and the finalization of the instruments and administration protocols, World Learning will facilitate five one-day trainings for 70 World Bank enumerators who will rollout data collection.
Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager a part-time Program associate will be recruited to support in the smooth implementation of the project. More specifically, the Program associate will support the team in the below Logistics and Admin Tasks:
- Provide administrative support to the project team by creating calendars, scheduling appointments, providing logistical support, record and disseminate meeting minutes, draft correspondence and coordinating travel arrangements;
- Act as point of contact for project team members including, draft minutes of meetings as necessary and maintaining program files;
- Support in the procurement of goods and services, and follow-up with the vendor;
- Support in preparing for the trainings (logistics, material, venue);
- Facilitate in the implementation of financial, administrative, and other internal tools;
- Schedule appointments and meetings for internal and external events;
- Review and summarize background documentation.
- Assisting in the backstopping of project team and consultants.
- Prepare and maintain data files (electronically and manually).
- Other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BA in a relevant discipline
- Professional experience in an office environment
- Strong administrative skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Exhibit the flexibility necessary to multi-task, and perform contracted services as needed.
- Ability to work as a team player and adapt to quick changing situations.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written as well as fluency in Arabic is required. Knowledge of French preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic and English language;
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to think and work logically, with careful attention to detail;
- Ability to work capably under stress and to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines;
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills.
Assignment Duration
The duration of the consultancy is for 15 - working days distributed over a period of 1.5-months.
