Project Description: Developing Rehabilitation Assistance to Schools and Teacher Improvement-II (D-RASATI-II) is a project that aims at enhancing student achievement in Lebanese public schools by training English teachers, developing extra-curricular activities, providing schools with ICT equipment and training, developing school leadership and building the capacity and tools necessary to support school improvement planning; in addition to providing support to public schools hosting Syrian refugee children to enhance student achievement in public schools D-RASATI-II is a 2-years project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Position Description: World Learning is responsible for supporting Lebanese public schools that are hosting Syrian refugee students in all regions of Lebanon. This involves working on two levels: training public school teachers in English language, and building skills among school-based staff to reduce tensions in conflict-affected areas. The PSS Material Development Consultant is required to lead on the developing of PSS themes, modules and sub-subjects to be used to train and capacity-build Ministry of Education staff and primary school teachers on the concepts and techniques of PSS intervention. This process will aim to build the awareness and skills among school- based staff to reduce tensions in public schools that host Syrian refugee children in all regions of Lebanon. In collaboration with the PSS Lead Trainer and Coaching Consultant, the PSS Material Development Consultant will address the following: 1. Lead the development of PSS training modules, tools and material and the production of relevant manuals, 2. Analyse and integrate collected data and feedback from the needs-identification sessions with MEHE and further develop themes and activities for the highlighted needs. 3. Assist the PSS Lead Trainer and Coaching Consultant in training the PSS Coaches on the various training topics and materials. 4. Support the Lead PSS Trainer during the training of trainers and the training of teachers. 5. Support in the evaluation phase of the trainings. __________________________________ Position Requirements: • University degree in psychology, social work with experience in mental health, or another relevant degree • At least 5 years of work experience in PSS material development and implementation during phases of direct assistance to refugees, IDPs and affected communities • Cross-cultural working experience in the field of community based psychosocial support is desired • Demonstrated expertise in conducting participatory assessments and approaches • Experience in mental health and/or psychosocial support training • Knowledge and experience implementing the IASC guidelines on MHPSS in Emergency Settings desirable • Readiness to learn and adapt to new techniques and approaches. • Awareness of refugee context following a context-sensitive approach. • Maintains confidentiality and respect towards beneficiaries. • Experience in working with children and vulnerable populations. • Good interpersonal and written and oral communication skills • Team player and adaptable to working under pressure and handling multiple tasks. • Ability to maintain quality performance in sensitive contexts. • Experience in conducting trainings. • Good reporting skills. • Computer skills: proficiency in current office software applications • Languages: Proficiency in English and Arabic. __________________________________ Deliverables - PSS training modules (prepared & reviewed) - Status reports on the preparation of ToT training materials. - Final Report (detailing the material development process and the agreed-upon content). __________________________________ Timeline August 2015 – January 2016 __________________________________ How to apply?
