The UNICEF-funded “Dirasa Program" & “Makani Program” aim to create for out-of-school children, multiple pathways that are flexible and responsive to each child’s unique learning needs. The program will be implemented in private /semi-private schools, community centers and is estimated to target out of school children and Retention support for students who are already enrolled in schools.
Scope:
The Math Officer will focus on primary education, developing scope and sequences, lesson plans, and assessments according to Lebanon’s national curriculum. They will work with SEL Specialists to integrate social and emotional learning into the Math curriculum, co-develop grades 1-6 scope and sequences, create structured model lessons, source Math resources, and handle additional assigned tasks.
Main Responsibilities
The Math Officer should have a focus on primary school education in Math, be able to create scope and sequences, lesson plans, and classroom-based assessments, and have knowledge of national curriculum and policies for Math in Lebanon.
The Math Officer will also work closely with the SEL Specialist to ensure social and emotional learning is embedded in the Math curriculum. The officer will be able to:
• Co-develop scope and sequence for Math grades 1 – 6 based on international best practices and adapt scope and sequence to the Lebanese context
• Develop model lessons, using structured pedagogy that fits within the scope and sequence.
• Collaborate on locating Math resources and e- resources for primary grades students and teachers
• Embed elements of social and emotional learning into model lesson plans.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Math education, with a focus on primary school education
• Minimum 7 years’ experience teaching and designing curricula for grades 1-6 Math in Lebanon
• Knowledge of national Math curriculum and policies in Math
• Knowledge of classroom-based assessment systems
• Fluent in English, knowledge of French is an advantage
• Able to travel in Lebanon for conferences/meetings/training/school visits.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and flexibility with project demands
