Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” QITABI-2 Program

Background
USAID’s “Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” (QITABI-2) is a five-year program seeking to improve learning outcomes for all students in public primary schools in Lebanon. Its activity targets an estimated 200,000 girls and boys, including those who are registered in second shifts of public schools.
World Learning has a vacancy for a short-term Consultancy named “Arabic Language Consultant" for the USAID-funded Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement (QITABI-2) in Lebanon. This position is for a Lebanese national.

Scope and Responsibilities
The “Arabic Literacy Consultant” will be working in close coordination with QITABI-2 Senior Literacy Technical Director
• Provide expertise in developing literacy Arabic teachers and students’ resources based on QITABI-2, literacy program (G1-G6)
• Provide technical assistance, recommendations, and guidance to QITABI-2 technical team to support teachers’ with best practices in the Arabic classroom
• Provide technical expertise in developing curriculum maps, scope and sequence, teachers’ guides and lesson plans
• Provide technical input and recommendations on developing and using formative and summative assessment tools to assess student’s learning outcomes in reading and writing Arabic language.
• Participate in QITABI-2 workshop activities when needed
• Provide input and content for EGRA development tools when needed
• Provide suggestions to designers on the relevant visuals (graphics and animations) to use for describing in an appealing way the textual content
• Contribute in analyzing students’ writing samples from the field to track progress and students’ development in writing skills.
• Prepare periodic activity and end of assignment reports

Requirements
• 5+ years of experience in education and preferably in teaching Arabic Literacy in elementary schools
• An advanced degree in education MA or PhD in Arabic language
• Proficiency in curriculum mapping and design in addition to developing teachers’ resources in Arabic
• Preferred experience working in NGOs or INGO or Public sector
• Strong analytical and computer and software analysis skills
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize and multi task
• Ability to work as a team player
• Proficiency in spoken/written English and Arabic is essential
