Background
USAID’s “Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” (QITABI-2) is a five-year program seeking to improve learning outcomes for all students in public primary schools in Lebanon. Its activity targets an estimated 200,000 girls and boys, including those who are registered in second shifts of public schools.
World Learning has a vacancy for a short-term Consultancy named “Arabic Literacy Consultant” for the USAID-funded Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement (QITABI-2) in Lebanon. This position is for a Lebanese national.

Scope and Responsibilities
The “Arabic Language Consultant” will be working in close coordination with QITABI-2 Senior Literacy Technical Director
• Provide technical assistance to QITABI-2 team
• Advise and provide input on curriculum mapping and training materials developed by the project QITABI-2 to efficiently review and finalize
• Review and edit QITABI submitted materials to MEHE and CERD as applicable such as desk reviews,
literature review reports and other as needed
• Develop review reports highlighting areas for improvement for submitted QITABI-2 materials as requested
• Support in planning and participate in upcoming trainings and other QITABI-2 activities
• Support the development of a plan for the dissemination of Grades 1-6 materials in coordination with
all project’s stakeholders
• Provide input and technical support to curriculum reform efforts and materials development and
production for the dissemination of QITABI-2 Grades1-6 Arabic reading materials and tools
• Participates in planning for QITABI-2 Arabic literacy events
• Provide technical assistance, recommendations, and guidance to QITABI-2 technical team to support teachers’ with best practices in the Arabic classroom
Requirements
• PHD in Education
• At least 15 years of experience teaching, managing and/or advising; preferably expertise in teaching Arabic Language and early grade reading projects
Strong knowledge and technical experience in areas of primary education, early grade reading, and teacher training
• Experience in the development of supplementary early grade reading programs, and/or curriculum development, and /or education development projects, assessment
• Strong knowledge and experience with education research and evaluations preferred
Experience in and strong knowledge of the Lebanese Public Schools
• Experience in planning and preparing for a training/expertise as trainer
• Ability to work as part of a large team locally and remotely with different partners
• Excellent in spoken and written Arabic language is required; fluency in English is preferred
