Organization and Project Background

The World Rehabilitation Fund, Inc. (WRF) is an international humanitarian non-profit organization headquartered in New York with a mission “To enable individuals around the world with functional limitations and participation restrictions achieve community and social integration through physical and socioeconomic rehabilitation and advocacy and to prevent disability and reduce disadvantage”.

In Lebanon, the programs of WRF started in the early 1980s, and continue, to support governmental, civil society, and professional nation-wide and community-based efforts to enhance the prevention of disabilities, and to address the protection, rehabilitation, and inclusion needs of persons with disabilities. This continues through direct provision of assistance services, capacity building of all concerned, development of policies and systems, advocacy, and resource mobilization.

WRF believes that all people, regardless of disability, have the right to participate fully in their communities, to attain education and viable employment.

WRF/Lebanon is implementing a Project titled “Filling Assistance Gaps in Basic Rehabilitation Services for Refugees from Syria with Disabilities and Their Peers in Host Communities in Lebanon”.

 
Job Purpose

The Project’s Accountant (PA) will provide general accounting support to the Project management by performing daily accounting tasks and preparing financial statements and supporting in regular and as needed auditing and financial reporting.

The PA will report to the Project Operations Director.

Key Tasks:

The PA will perform the following:

  • Assists with the preparation of payment documents, performs timely payments, and reports on expenditures and balances;
  • processes accounting transactions and updates budgets, records and ledgers;
  • processes journal entries on daily basis to ensure all transactions are recorded;
  • enters, retrieves, and maintains information on the computerized accounting system;
  • reconciles bank statements;
  • prepares statements of expenses;
  • assists in preparing periodic and as needed financial reports;
  • prepares raw data for VAT reporting and other reporting in compliance with the laws of the Government of Lebanon;
  • acts as a liaison on payments with payees and vendors (partners, service providers, suppliers of goods and services; etc.) to reconcile any billing or commitment discrepancies;
  • updates and maintains accounting records and keeps the database of all accounting documents updated to ensure accuracy, timeliness and availability of data;
  • ensures compliance with applicable accounting and auditing standards and with the requirements of WRF, donors and auditors; and
  • assists with other Project related accounting tasks as required.
