World Vision Lebanon (WVL) is committed to improving the well-being of children, their families, and communities, with a focus on the most vulnerable. Sponsorship is one of WVL’s core approaches, connecting children with sponsors who support long-term development in their communities.
To support the effective implementation of the sponsorship business process, WVL seeks to recruit a team of Community Assistants to provide flexible, field-based assistance in child monitoring, data collection, correspondence, and family engagement. The role is essential for ensuring high-quality and timely sponsorship operations, while upholding safeguarding standards and strengthening trust between WVL, children, families, and sponsors.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Mobilization & Engagement
- Act as a bridge between the project team and the local community.
- Mobilize parents, caregivers, youth, and community leaders to participate in project activities.
- Raise awareness on child rights, child protection, health, and education.
Support in Implementation
- Assist in organizing community activities, workshops, and events.
- Facilitate safe spaces, play areas, or learning sessions for children.
- Help in identifying vulnerable households and children in need of support.
Monitoring & Feedback
- Collect feedback from community members, especially children and caregivers.
- Report on challenges faced during activities and suggest improvements.
- Monitor children’s participation and progress in community programs.
- Linkages & Referrals
- Connect families with available services (health, education, psychosocial support).
- Refer cases of child protection concerns to the relevant project staff or local authorities.
- Capacity Building & Empowerment
- Support parents and caregivers in adopting positive parenting practices.
- Promote community ownership of child-focused initiatives for sustainability.
- Encourage child participation in community decision-making.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Undergraduate Degree
- Familiarity with the local culture and community dynamics (preferably from Abbasieh, Sour, Maaroub and Deir Qanoun areas).
- Basic digital literacy (mobile apps, data entry, communication tools).
- Valid driving license and access to a car (preferred).
- Proven experience in fieldwork in humanitarian or development settings.
- Fluent in spoken and written Arabic; working knowledge of English is a strong asset (especially for transcription/translation).
- Active listening skills and the ability to respond to beneficiary inquiries professionally.
- Ability to gather information objectively and sensitively.
- Familiarity with ethical research standards, including confidentiality, informed consent, and safeguarding (especially of children and youth).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines and in changing field environments.
