Consultant For Teachers' Training-Positive Discipline

THE PURPOSE OF THE CONSULTANCY:   World Vision Lebanon is looking for a short term professional expert with a strong background and experience in delivering trainings on Positive Discipline/ Non-Violent Communication.  The consultant’s main role will be to plan and deliver a Training sessions for school teachers to be capable and equipped to use positive discipline methods with their students to decrease and avoid violence.   PROJECT DISCRIPTION:   The “non-violent communication project” emerged from Marjeyoun Area needs to reduce violence, designed in its second output to bring awareness, tools and practical techniques of non-violent communication/positive discipline for school teacher.  The training Component is an interactive and creative 3 training sessions (1.5-2 hours/ one session) in each entitled school aiming to provide teachers with knowledge, tools and practical techniques on how to communicate positively with their students thus decrease the chances of Violence being practiced by teachers and children towards each other. Sessions will be performed in private and/or public schools, with teachers as audiences with a different range of ages 30s to 50s. The training session should be 1.5-2 hours, followed by a Question-and-Answer 15-20 minutes where advices on how to behave or deal with students is required. The training session will run from 18 January, 2016 to May 27, 2016, and reach a minimum of 75 teachers in 4-5 schools. However, the week of 11-15 January, 2016 preparation of materials should take place such as printing out, photocopy, purchasing already developed guide, booklets, brochures etc… At the end of the sessions, a brain storming session should be done with teachers per school to come out with a list of materials needed to implement these positive discipline techniques. Finally, one coaching session day and one follow up day should be done with the schools to ensure efficiency of the training.   REQUIRED TASKS:   Overall The Consultant will: Prepare the Positive Discipline/ Non-Violent Communication training tool and materials. Prepare a Pre- Post- questionnaires with Teachers before and after the training sessions to test their knowledge and impact of such sessions Lead the process of session delivery (12 separate or joint session according to the schools availability) in Marjeyoun Help the schools to set the materials needed to implement the methods delivered. report the whole process to document all steps (preparation, pre- post- questionnaires, sessions delivery) Trainer should provide a plan/ schedule for delivering the topics to be delivered, including the preparation of 3 (three) sessions in Arabic Language. Specific Required Tasks   Prepare the Positive Discipline/ Non-Violent Communication training tool and materials in Arabic. Prepare a Pre- Post- questionnaires (In Arabic) with Teachers before and after the training sessions to test their knowledge and impact of such sessions Lead the process of session delivery (In Arabic) in Marjeyoun Area (12 sessions separate or joint session according to the schools) Help the schools to set the materials needed to implement the methods delivered. Submit one final report (in English) including practical recommendations for WV including documenting the whole process of all steps (preparation, pre- post- questionnaires, sessions delivery)   CONSULTANT QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:   The Consultant should have the following competencies and experiences:   Signifiant technical expertise in Non-Violent Communication/Positive Discipline Advanced degree in relevant education field (e.g. Special Education, etc). Familiar with civil society and NGO engagement.   Good analytical, critical thinking and communication skills. Good reporting skills. Ability to travel to Marjeyoun Area   DURATION OF THE CONSULTANCY:     The consultant will provide services for WVL as needed during the period from second week of March 2015 until Jul, 2015.       Task Timeline Meeting with the consultant to start preparing the material. 11 January, 2016 Provide 3 training sessions for 10-15 school teachers in each of the 4 selected schools in Marjeyoun Area. Also, Help the schools to set a list of materials needed to implement the methods delivered.
