MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Act as a primary link between the community, local partners, the program team and technical specialists. • Identify local partners including CBOs, NGOs and others. Assess their needs and assist in developing strategies which aim at building their capacities. • Monitor community needs and possible World Vision interventions. • Work with social groups to organize, mobilize, plan and implement activities to improve child well-being. • Work with social groups to support, monitor and evaluate ongoing activities according to approved stated objectives, plan of action, budget and record progress. • Strengthen the understanding of community development and ownership and of social sustainability among the stakeholders in the area. • Strengthen the relationships between stakeholders and beneficiaries by creating a network between partners of the community (local NGOs, churches, associations, etc.) and community members. • Act as a catalyst by equipping and empowering local partners and community members to move forward and take responsibility for community-based development through strategic thinking and planning. • Coordinate focus groups at the DPA (Development Program Approach) as necessary. • Develop a good understanding of local politics and how this may affect development activities and partnerships with local government agencies. • Introduce communities to child sponsorship. • Assess whether communities are ready to take part in sponsorship. • Facilitate the community-led selection of children. • Select, train, support and monitor sponsorship volunteers to follow-up with sponsored children and their families. • Liaise between the DPA Team Leader and the registered children’s families to build trust between the DPA team and members of the community.
