MAJOR TASKS:
Facilitate and formulate the local education and life skills strategy within the framework of the country operational strategy
Coordinate with the Global Centre and MEER regional office to ensure strategic alignment of the education and life skills sector
Formulate guidelines, processes, measurements, and standards for the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of education and life skills projects in collaboration with the Design, Monitoring and Evaluation (DME) team.
Strengthen the quality, partner ownership, and sustainability of education and life skills interventions in Area Development Program (ADPs) and refugee programme that lead to impact, in coordination with operations staff, programme staff and DME
Assist the ADP staff and community partners in understanding and adapting education and life skills project models to local contexts in alignment with local strategy
Provide ongoing assistance and coaching to related field staff in order to ensure timely and quality implementation of the education and life skills projects ’activities.
Review and refine programme education designs including their budgets as well as project and programme education and life skills indicators and support baseline measurements
Identify the capacity needs in the areas of education and life skills programming and develop plans for building the capacity of the education and life skills projects field staff and partners in collaboration with HR department and Programme Managers
Ensure experiences and lessons learned are shared among the team of education field staff
Assist in the recruitment of education and life skills project coordinators at programme level in co-operation with programme managers and HR Manager
Oversee the implementation of education and life skills projects in WVL’s area of intervention through establishing appropriate monitoring system in close collaboration with WVL’s monitoring team
Conduct periodic visits to ADPs and project sites in order to provide ongoing assistance in implementation
Provide technical input and recommendations to procurement activities related to services or equipment that affect the quality of education and life skills programmes.
Review, analyze, and provide feedback on the education and life skills component of programme / projects reports (including assessment reports, PDDs, monitoring and management reports as well as evaluation reports)
Strengthen and establish a strong network of national education partners and stakeholders
Advocate with government and cluster meetings on education and life skills issues and cooperate with relevant agencies to create projects for education strengthening systems
Develop National Level Learning Network within WV consisting of education related focal staff from different ADPs and other programmes to share best practices, challenges, and engage in active learning
Liaise and network with other WV entities within the partnership for sharing and dissemination of best practices, information access, and resource acquisition.
Leverage strategic alliances and build meaningful relationships with national education partners for sharing experiences and resources and fostering partnership
Ensure WVL’s Education projects/programs are highlighted in the media in coordination with the communications department
Identify and network with education and life skills donors
Collaborate with Operations staff, programme staff and DME team in resource acquisition efforts for education and life skills programming funding
Support technically in the design of new grants , projects and plans
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge and Skills
Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic. Any other language would be an added value.
Excellent networker.
Ability to work in, and contribute to, a collaborative team-building environment.
Willingness and ability to travel to ADP/project areas frequently.
Excellent analytical/ problem solving skill and detail orientation
Clear understanding of the workings of major donors
Strong communication skills both oral and written.
Experience
Strong experience in project design and proposal writing and in assessment and data collection methodologies
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Education and life skills and development work, out of which at least two years in grassroots field and development work.
