Purpose:
Organise systematic collection of protection relevant information from a variety of sources in WV areas of operation in West and Central Bekaa.
Analyse the data for trends, emerging new risks or aggravating existing protection problems.
Propose solutions to problems identified through using inter-agency referral mechanisms and own WV programmatic response.
Major Tasks:
Ensure protection is mainstreamed in all projects thus enabling sector staff to apply a ‘protection lens ’ to their activities
Monitor protection risks and needs in project sites including ITS and hosting communities
Attend sessions at the CFS and ALP locations, interact with staff and participants as relevant for protection analysis and assistance with information provision and referrals of cases
Propose new activities according to identified needs
Report biweekly on protection activities
Organize daily and weekly work plan for protection assistants
Receive identified protection cases from field staff, refer them to adequate service providers
Agree on a follow up plan with referral agencies and ensure compliance with referral agreements in order to achieve closure of cases in due course
Disseminate and share information on available services to staff and beneficiaries
Ensure proper filing is done regarding every case, visit and discussion. Report must be written mentioning major points in addition to recommendations and follow-up plan.
Maintain adequate safeguards for the privacy of the family and confidentiality of information following the agreed inter-agency guidelines on confidential treatment of sensitive information
Engage with staff and other stakeholders in dialogue on innovative ideas how to improve the protection of beneficiaries
Write a monthly report about the evolution of work and show the results reached in this specific aspect
Participate in all coordination meetings required
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Understanding of humanitarian work, principles and challenges
Knowledge of the principles of humanitarian protection and child protection in emergencies
Minimum 3 years experience in social work preferred in emergency context
Experience in project implementation, monitoring and report writing
Good command of English, both written and oral.
Good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
Flexibility in accomplishing tasks
Ability to cope and work under pressure
Computer literate mainly in Microsoft Office package
Willing to travel within Lebanon with a valid driver’s license.
Well-organized, self-motivated and ability to work in a team
